What is ADHD? π€π§΅ Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder is a neurological condition impacting the areas of the brain responsible for planning, focusing and executing tasks, also known as Executive Functions.
There are three types of ADHD: Hyperactive, Inattentive and combined. ADHD is often more difficult to diagnose in woman, adults and racial minorities, as the diagnosis manuals were written looking at young white boys.
Despite its label, ADHD is a neurological difference, but it is not a deficit, we are not faulty or broken - it is just a way to think and operate differently!
I genuinely believe we can live thriving lives through embracing and self acceptance, playing to our strengths and getting support to manage the ADHD challenges (ie Access to Work, PIP, etc)
