Nobody plans the return.
Two weeks planned in detail. Flights, restaurants, the good hotel.
Then day one back, forty emails deep before the coffee, and by Thursday the holiday is a rumour.
Re-entry is where most of the benefit is lost, and it is the cheapest part to protect.
A few things that work.
Come back on a Wednesday, so the first week is short by design.
Keep the first day free of meetings and use it for triage.
Decide before you leave what you will not be picking back up, because everything picks itself back up otherwise.
The point of a holiday is not the fortnight.
It is what the fortnight lets you carry into the autumn.
Protect the landing, not just the trip.
