The idea that as we age we supposed to slow down, adjust our lives to fit some weird societal expectations that menopausal women over 50 are a bit past it. Well I ain’t buying that!
I’ve decided in commemoration of turning 50 next years I will set and complete a physical challenge and adventure each month for the next 12 months.
I want to celebrate and embrace getting older whilst still feeling strong, capable and physical. I want to connect with my body, challenge myself, spend time with other women and hopefully inspire a few more to keep being physically adventurous and playful.
I’d love it, along the way, if some of you will come and join me.
August was mountain hiking in Turkey (my highest elevation) ⛰️🇹🇷
September is bringing on two new hybrid races, and this time doing it with my own hybrid wing women . I’ve always raced on my own but am now embracing the idea of double the fun and feels with someone else 👯♀️
Big shout out to all the women getting older, staying physical and continuing to find out what we’re capable of.
Let’s get old and physical together 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
PBPT Fitness
Working with women to help them sustainably achieve their fitness, physique & wellbeing goals
The value of good coaching isn’t just a workout landing in your app every week. For most it’s the support, guidance and accountability that helps them make changes and, perhaps more importantly, sustain them.
It’s having someone in your corner when motivation is low, helping you navigate the weeks when life gets busy and reminding you to focus on your reason why, even when things don’t go perfectly.
The same applies when it comes to our health. We will spend money, time and energy on so many things without thinking twice (hello expensive meals out, drinks nights, random Amazon purchases, daily coffee outings etc.) but investing those same resources into feeling stronger, healthier and more capable can sometimes feel like a luxury.
I would argue it’s our health which enables us to enjoy everything else. Feeling strong enough to do the things you love, having the energy to enjoy your family and friends and being able to travel, move, explore and try new things For me, more than ever, it’s looking after the body that is going to carry you through all the years ahead.
There are of course, many ways to prioritise your health that don’t cost £50 a week, and online coaching certainly isn’t the only answer.
But this conversation reminded me that investing in your health doesn’t always need to be seen as an expense. Sometimes it’s an investment in how you want to feel and live, not just now, but for the years ahead.
What do you think? Would love to hear your thoughts on how you’ve invested in your health 👇🏽
We love a challenge but one with FREE kit is even sweeter ❤️🔥

Five years ago in a covid covered world I walked away from a career in theatre producing to start & become a fitness coach and PT. At the time it felt like a huge leap. Looking back, it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
Here are some of the biggest lessons from the past five years:
1. Prioritise yourself without guilt.
⚡️Women often put everyone else’s needs ahead of their own. The reality is that looking after yourself isn’t selfish. When you have more energy, strength and confidence, everyone around you benefits too.
2. You’re stronger than you think.
⚡️Many of my clients start out their journeys every client starts by saying, “I can’t”, “it won’t be possible” “I couldn’t do that
A few months later they’re lifting weights they never imagined, running further than they thought possible and seeing themselves differently. Strength is just physical. It changes the way you approach every challenge.
3. Surround yourself with people who build you up.
⚡️Progress is easier when you’re surrounded by people who encourage you, celebrate your successes and remind you to keep going when life gets busy (which it always does).
4. Question the old narratives.
⚡️For years we’ve been told that women should aim to be smaller, to take up less space and that their health is not a priority (the staggering inequality in women’s health research demonstrates this).
5. Find movement you enjoy and do it consistently.
⚡️There are always ways to optimise training, but consistency will beat the perfect programme every time. If you enjoy it, you’ll come back next week, and the week after that. It’s this consistency that will make real progress happen.
To every woman who’s trusted me over the last five years, thank you for turning up, for being willing to try something new, for supporting my business and allowing me to do a job I genuinely love every single day 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
The biggest barrier between you and your goals might not be your age, your schedule or your fitness level. What might be limiting factors are the barriers you’ve accepted without questioning.
We all know life is busy. 24 hours is not the same for everyone- we all have big responsibilities and these can feel overwhelming challenges at times. Reframe your approach:
Stop asking yourself why you can’t… and start asking yourself, “How could I?”
⚡️Could you fit in 20 minutes instead of waiting for an hour?
⚡️Take walk while the kids are at their activities?
⚡️ Do a short home workout, mobility routine or run instead of thinking you have to use the gym?
⚡️ 20 squats, 10 lunges, 5 push ups x 3 sets. Done.
The same goes for food. Healthy eating doesn’t have to mean expensive meal plans or fancy ingredients. Simple, nutritious food is enough. 3 meals, 1-2 snacks and follow an 80/20 balance rule.
If not sure where to begin, ask. That’s what I’m here for. Sometimes all it takes is someone helping you find a way that works for your life. Thats what us coaches do. We understand real life and help make your fitness and health goals work for you.
So tell me- what’s one barrier you could remove this week?
With the UK in the middle of a heatwave, you’ve probably noticed everyone suddenly walking around slurping electrolytes & telling you how ‘hydrated they are now’ 🙄
Useful in specific situations, they can be a good (but not magic) hydration fix. Where people go wrong is thinking they need electrolytes all day, every day.
Electrolytes are minerals like sodium, potassium, magnesium and calcium. They help regulate fluid balance, support muscle contractions and keep your nerves and heart functioning properly. When you sweat, you lose both water and electrolytes, especially sodium 🧂
They are best taken if you’re exercising for over 1+ hours in the heat, doing a particularly high intensity endurance style sweaty session, working outdoors, or if you’ve been unwell with vomiting or diarrhoea or had a big night on the booze 🥴
For most people doing a typical gym workout, water and a balanced diet are enough. Consuming electrolyte drinks when not required can mean unnecessary sodium, sugar or calories.
Your body works optimally when these minerals stay in balance.
In this weather, staying hydrated with water, eating regular meals and replacing electrolytes when you’ve genuinely lost them is usually all that’s required.
So before you spend £20 on the latest electrolyte sachets because an influencer told you to, ask yourself if you actually need them. Chances are you probably don’t.
