A fabulous evening of action at the CJMA Autumn grading. From those first steps of the Lion Cubs to that first yellow tag, all the way to the high octane challenge of red belt at Cadets. Very proud of what I saw, all rising in their own way, and a great display of the skills they so diligently craft each and every week. Congratulations

After a fast paced footwork blitz we moved onto double stick. Mostly still mobile, but more about the striking patterns. Defensive work next building up subject to grade, the majority working Jun fan kickboxing. A solid finish on the pads with some Muay Thai flavour working all striking tools

A couple of great sessions. New graduates really settling into this new world very well and clearly relishing it all. The seniors displaying great focus and some lovely striking as we focus on elbows and knees. The quality of the pad holding increasing as well.

Tangible growth with each week. Both on an individual and group level, as the new starters find their feet, and begin to slide into their groove. Heavy focus upon coordination, with rapid fire combos, then footwork, then layering more options to keep their bodies moving and their minds firing fast. Naturally there was more double stick, and some solid striking end on a high. Great work

Our coordination session is always challenging, and that is kind of the point. Building strong foundations like this does take time, and it’s most definitely worth the time it takes. Working striking and our “rhino” defence to keep the hands busy. Then layering footwork, kicks and even knees, to challenge them further. It wouldn’t be coordination without double stick, so naturally these made an appearance. Finishing strong with our combos tested with power on the pads. Hear them roar 🐯

Superb work over both sessions, and for very different reasons. Our new graduates up to cadets already looking at ease, their enthusiasm for this new, more mature class structure, clear to see. Coloured belts in the group leading by example exceptionally well, being the role models I fully expect them to be. The later group displayed real solid focus, and a real joy to the training. Each grading group being technically challenged, and all of them relishing the challenge. A lovely set of sessions to be a part of

An evening of top flight action across both sessions. Both groups still looking to fully find their groove with changes to the dynamics since the autumn restart. The “elders” doing very well in their roles of responsibility. Leading the way for the new intake, both in skills, but more importantly, in conduct. Already both groups are more settled than last week, and this is sure to continue with each subsequent week
