☀️ Riding School Update – Friday 10th July ☀️

Unfortunately, today’s lessons have been cancelled as it’s forecast to be the hottest part of the heatwave during our lesson times today.

Due to everyone being at work and children being in school, we’re unable to bring today’s Friday lessons forward to cooler parts of the day.

The welfare of our horses and riders will always come first, and we appreciate your understanding.

The good news is tomorrow is forecast to be much cooler and windier, so we plan to be back open as normal. If we decide to bring any of tomorrow’s lessons forward to make the most of the cooler temperatures, we’ll be in touch.

Thank you all for your understanding, and please stay safe in the heat! ☀️🐴💛

☀️ Due to the hot weather and temperatures expected over the next couple of days, all riding school lessons are cancelled today and tomorrow.

The ponies have decided it’s simply too hot to work and are currently enjoying a well-deserved holiday by the pool 😎🏖️🐴

The welfare of our horses and riders always comes first, so we’ll be back as soon as the temperatures are more comfortable.

Stay cool, stay hydrated, and we’ll see you all soon! 🤍

Our gorgeous boy Lockey update 🤍

Lockey was readmitted 12 days ago, just a few days after his surgery, after further tests, scans and investigations showed that things were unfortunately far more serious than we had first hoped.

A week ago on Saturday, we truly thought we were going to lose him when the worst diagnosis came back .. septic joint 🥹 After everything he had already been through, we had basically brought him home believing we were going to have to make the heartbreaking decision to let him go.

Because of where the problem is, it’s especially serious as it directly affects his ability to eat, which is why every little positive sign from him means so much right now.

But then a little miracle happened… he started eating again 😭

Since then, he has slowly started showing us little signs that he still wants to fight. His treatment plan now is very full on … he’s on Dr Green 🌱.. three weeks of medication three times a day.. alongside intravenous stronger antibiotics and pain relief once a week for the next three weeks.

The positives are that he’s eating loads, pooping loads, looking brighter every day.. plus even getting fatter 🐷🤍

He still has a long way to go, and we are still very unsure what the final outcome will be, but we are giving him absolutely everything and hoping and praying he can make a full recovery ❤️‍🩹🙏🏼

We also want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has helped with his care, treatment and day-to-day management .. from the vets, to everyone helping at home, and everyone who has checked in, supported us and kept him in their thoughts. It has honestly meant so much during such an emotional few weeks 🤍

We’d also love to see your favourite photos of Lockey and hear your lovely stories of him .. he has meant so much to so many of us over the years 🤍🐴

Our lovely Lockey has had a very difficult few weeks and really has been through the mill.

We had been trying everything to get to the bottom of what was going on, but without knowing an underlying ear infection was causing the problem, things sadly took a turn for the worse on Thursday. After further investigations, CT scans and specialist assessment, he underwent surgery on Friday evening to remove his ceratohyoid bone, a small bone deep in the jaw/ear area, to relieve the pain he had been in.

It’s been an incredibly stressful and worrying time, but we are so relieved to say he is brighter in himself and feeling much more like Lockey again 🤍

We are so so so grateful to Cotts Equine Hospital and especially to Dr Bruce Bladon for the amazing care, skill and support they have given him throughout.

If all continues to go to plan, he should be coming back home tomorrow 🤞🏼 He still has a long road to recovery ahead, but right now we are just taking each day as it comes and are so thankful he is more comfortable and recovering well 🐴✨

Thank you so much to everyone who has helped at home, checked in and kept him in your thoughts.

We know Steve and Annette, who have loved and cared for him for so many years now, cannot wait to get him home too. He means the world to soooo many of us … he really is the heart and soul of Dimlands 🥹🤍
