Catch report week 15-6-26
Apparently, June saw nearly 27 degrees and was the hottest on record. Well, we are into the second week now and we are seeing temperatures around10 degrees with a bitterly cold south easterly wind most days.
Nevertheless, some great fishing has been had the last few days.
Our vice President Kevin Pritchard had a red-letter day on the boat in a matter of a few hours, finding some lovely, overwintered rainbows.
Junior angler Aron Jones also having success with double figure brownies in Llyn Bach all returned.
The cold weather interestingly has pushed the fish higher up and they are on the naturals, with slow intermediate or sink tip lines working well.
Traditional buzzers and nymphs are catching but the favourite in the catch return book seems to be bo***es. Possibly feeding on the daphnia but plenty of wild brownies are being caught, with some gracing the net at over the 2lb mark.
Popular areas seem to be Llyn Bach,up by the bales and by the railway line.
The Brenig Outing is moving from Saturday 20th of June to Saturday 27th of June, keep an eye out for updates on how to book etc.
Please keep your catch reports coming in and share any success.

Adroddiad or lan 25-5-26/Catch report week 25-5-26
Heading into a blistering hot apparent heat wave this week, the fishing the past few weeks has been very good, considering the up and down weather..
Catch report in the book look very good, with 3 brownies to every 1 rainbow being caught but thankfully during the Chairmans Cup the rainbows finally made an appearance.
Visiting bank angler Dave Ffer recorded had a mix bag of six fish all caught on traditional buzzers by the damn.
Intermediate to slow sink tip lines working well as the evening draws on, with traditional flies taking most fish.
Popular areas seem to be by the bales towards Bodffordd, along the damn wall both bank and boat, and Trwyn Dafydd.
A friendly reminder the next competition will be the Brenig outing on the 20th June, so please make contact with Rhys to book a boat for you and your partner.
Please keep catches coming in by messaging the page,

John Williams Shield
The John Williams Competition proved a great success despite challenging conditions, with 10 anglers managing an impressive total of 23 fish. Adapting well to the circumstances. Success came by using heavy sinking lines, with Cormorants and flashy blobs doing most of the damage. The strong wind pushed fish tight into the banks, which ultimately shaped the winning tactics on the day.
Almost 50/50 split with brownies and rainbows.
Rhys took top honours with a solid bag of 6 fish, followed by Jack in second with 5,who also took the heaviest fish and Alun securing third place with 4.
A huge thanks to all organizers and competitors, without your continued support these friendly get togethers would not be possible.
A special thanks goes to Ian Ryan for his help in bailing the boats much appreciated support.
Please keep a lookout for our next competition and any working parties.
Tight lines a mawr ddiolch pawb.
