We are writing to you today to share a long-overdue update, but more importantly, to express our deepest gratitude.

To put it bluntly: we would not have survived this winter without the support of our Founders Members, Tee Sponsors, & Guests.

Your memberships didn't just help keep the lights on; they directly enabled us to work continually on the course through the harsh winter months, keeping it open for the community. Whether you've been up here playing every week, or you simply bought a membership to support our community project from afar - diolch yn fawr iawn! You are the backbone of Great Orme Golf.

Here is a look at what we've been up to, and what's coming next:

Course & Greenkeeping Update

The 15-month restoration was just the beginning. In March, we successfully seeded the greens, and over the last two weeks, we have heavily overseeded with fescue and topdressed. While we are already seeing great improvements, come June, the greens are going to take a significant leap forward. The course is looking truly fantastic.

Note on Overnight Deterrents: To protect the greens, we have ultrasonic animal deterrents active around them from roughly 7:00 PM to 10:00 AM. You are still completely welcome to play during these hours, but you will hear them!

Infrastructure & The "Sip & Putt" Concept

Security and hospitality are our next big focuses. Over the coming days, we are building a new metal shed to secure all of our vital maintenance machinery.

Once that's up, we are transforming the current kiosk into a fully functional drinks reception. Directly opposite, the 9-hole putting green is on track for summer. This will launch our new Sip & Putt concept - featuring comfortable garden furniture where members and the public can relax, enjoy a drink, and tackle the putting green.

New Weekly Schedule: Launching THIS WEEK!
We want to get the community moving, playing, and learning. We are launching a brand-new weekly schedule of 1-hour competitions and coaching sessions.

Cost: £10 for visitors | £5 for Members

Tuesday 4:00 PM - Juniors (Ages 7–11)
Wednesday 4:00 PM - Juniors (Ages 11–17)
Thursday 6:00 PM - Ladies
Friday 6:00 PM - Friday Night Golf (Ladies & Gents)
Saturday 10:00 AM - Juniors (Course Ready/Independent players)

We are hitting the ground running this week at 6:00 PM on both Thursday and Friday:

Friday 6pm: Friday Night Golf (Texas Scramble format)

No experience is needed whatsoever - Robin will be on hand to support everyone. Plus, we have some incredible Nearest the Pin prizes up for grabs, including brand-new Adidas and Skechers golf shoes!

Looking to the Future...
We aren't stopping here. We have big plans to develop the large area below the reception leading down toward Haulfre Gardens, as well as opening a "Back 9" in the future, which will be longer and more challenging. We will also be hosting special championship events on selected weekends.

From the early signs, we genuinely believe this pitch and putt is going to be a treasured asset for all ages and abilities in our community. We will continue to work tirelessly to make this one of the best pitch and putt facilities in the world.

Keep your head down, or look up?

They say life throws hurdles at you, but this one felt like a brick wall.

​After 15 months of back-breaking restoration and finally opening the Great Orme Golf gates 3 months ago, I was ready for the next big chapter: getting my leg fixed. As many of you know, I’ve been battling a "blown" knee for years. Before we even started the Orme project, it was so bad I couldn’t even bend down to change a nappy. It’s stopped me from playing professional and social golf, but most importantly, it stops me from just kicking a ball around with Iago.

​After 7 years of being "lost in the system" through COVID and beyond, I finally had my date for an ACL reconstruction and Osteotomy. Then today, less than 24 hours before the op, I got the call. Cancelled.

​I’ll be honest, I was heartbroken. Miserable. For a period, I just wanted to shut the world out. But then I looked around and realised I had two choices: keep my head down and stay defeated, or look up and appreciate what I’ve got. My family, this amazing local community, and a body that - outside of one dodgy knee - is still fit and capable.

​So, I picked up the pickaxe. I grabbed the shovel and the wheelbarrow. And instead of sitting on the sofa feeling sorry for myself, I moved over a ton of soil onto the 6th tee.

​I don’t know when the hospital will call with a new date. But I do know this: I am putting my heart and soul into this course. I want this place to be something Llandudno is proud of for generations to come. That’s the big goal.

A personal goal? Recovering so I can finally play 18 holes with Tanya and Iago, and who knows, becoming Pitch and Putt World Champion!

​Hurdles are made for jumping. Brick walls are made for smashing through - one shovel, one determined step at a time.
