https://gogtriathlonclub.niftyentries.com/GOG-Membership-2026 Although the primary aim of the club is to provide training and support to people who wish to take part in a triathlon, it is open to anyone who is interested in swimming, cycling or running. In fact, some of its keenest members are yet to take part in their first event. But they like the club because of its relaxed and friendly style.

Sunday saw a small contingent of club athletes travel down to Barry Island, South Wales for the penultimate round of the Welsh Super Series.
However, what we lacked in numbers, we made up for with character and talent with everyone of our five athletes securing a top five place in their respective age groups πŸ‘Œ
Leading the way were Steve Allport and Rhian Roxburgh who both won their age groups, with Rhian also finishing as second female overall πŸ₯‡
Gwion Brown put in another fantastic display finishing third in a very tough 20-24 age group πŸ₯‰
There was another solid performance from Gaz Catherall, who claimed a well deserved fifth place in the 30-34 age group πŸ…
Taking a second place in her age group was one of our longest serving club members, Dinah Hazeldine πŸ₯ˆ
All collected valuable points for the club in the Super Series prior to the final race of the season, to be held at Bala this weekend.
Well done team πŸ‘

It's been a busy Bank Holiday weekend for our club members, with athletes travelling far and wide to race.
But we start close to home, and the Cilcain Mountain Race. A tough 7.4Km course that takes athletes from the village of Cilcain, up to the summit of Moel Fammau and back, and with an elevation of just under 400 meters, this is one tough cookie.
Doubling up as the North Wales Regional Champs, a stacked fields of athletes was guaranteed. However, proving that we can hold our own with the best runners in the area, Andy Jones secured a second place in the NW Champs in the M50 age category with an impressive time of 46.03 πŸ₯ˆ
Hot on his heels was Hayley Turner, in an equally impressive 51.57 πŸ‘Œ However, we're still waiting for an update on the NW Champs to find out her placing.
Well done team πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

GOGS on Tour 🏴󠁧󠁒󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿
Three of our club athletes, Merf Jones, Claire Parsley, and Paula Turner, travelled to Copenhagen, Denmark earlier this week to compete in the TrygFonden Copenhagen Swim, Denmark's largest recreational open water swimming event, in which swimmers complete a 2Km lap of Copenhagen's canal system.
Not content with swimming through the city, they also ran the local Parkruns this morning too.
Well done team πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ˜

More of our athletes on their travels over the weekend were Neil Vicars-Harris and Paula Maguire, who competed in the West Lancs Sprint Triathlon, in Ormskirk, Lancashire.
Both athletes put in excellent performances with Neil completing the race in 1.21.01, and Paula crossing the line in 1.31.13 πŸ‘Œ
A great result for both athletes, and even more so for Paula as she makes a steady comeback to racing after suffering a major illness just over a year ago πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Another of our athletes making the trip to the East Midlands for the Darley Moor Duathlon, was Sion Hughes. In a race that doubled as a 2027 European Qualifier, Sion made light work of the 5K run, 18K bike, and final 2.5K run, crossing the finish line in a time of 1.03.31, finishing 11th in his age group.
Well done Sion, fingers crossed for qualification 🀞

Yesterday saw three of our junior athletes travel over to the Midlands to compete in the Darley Moor Junior Duathlon, part of the West Midlands Junior Race Series.
In the Tristars 1 race, for athletes aged 9 - 10, brothers Llywelyn and Blaiddyn Wynne were once again showing that all the hard work they are putting in on a Thursday evening is paying off, with two tremendous performances. Llywelyn romped home in 9th place, while Blaiddyn crossed the line in 41st place. Brilliant results in a stacked field of the best up and coming triathletes πŸ‘Œ
Enya Maguire, racing in the Tristars 2 age group, for athletes aged 11 - 12, also reaped the rewards of all her hard work finishing 26th overall, and tenth female in another stacked field πŸ‘
Well done team πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

YOU ARE AN IRONMAN !!!
Those were the words that greeted club member Rach Williams Cook as she ran down the famous red carpet in Copenhagen last weekend.
In less than ideal conditions, Rach was rewarded for all the hard graft she has put in over the last 12 months with a fantastic time of just over thirteen and a half hours.
A huge congratulations from all at the club, now put your feet up and relax πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘
