🌟 Leadership & Team Building 🌟

Yesterday, we held a fantastic team-building training session with our new Active Schools Assistants, trainees and some of our sessional coaches! πŸ™ŒπŸΌ

The group took part in a variety of fun team-building activities, including Boccia and New Age Kurling πŸ₯Œ, helping to develop communication, teamwork and leadership skills along the way.

It was a fun and engaging session enjoyed by everyone, and the participants are now looking forward to putting some of their new skills and ideas into practice when working in schools! πŸ’ͺ🏼🏫

Active West Lothian is made up of West Lothian Council's Active Schools and Community Sport teams.
Active Schools is a fantastic national program dedicated to getting more children active. In West Lothian we aim to increase the number and diversity of children and young people taking part in sport and physical activity to improve their health and wellbeing, make friends and have fun!
Our team of Community Sport Coordinators take a targeted approach to working in partnership with local community sports clubs and hubs, governing bodies of sport and third sector organisations, to support the growth, sustainability, governance and overall development of sport in the area.
Active Schools + Community Sport = Active West Lothian
We hold a vision of inclusive access for all, improving the lives of the people of West Lothian through physical education, physical activity and sport. Some of our key areas of work are:
🏏 Free extra-curricular activity

🌟 Yesterday we officially launched our 2026/27 Coach Academy West Lothian (CAWL) and Young Ambassadors (YA) programmes! 🌟

A fantastic 30 CAWL pupils and 17 YAs came together for team-building activities, made new connections with peers from across West Lothian, and completed the SCQF Level 4 accredited ETC Communication Module.

This was the first of several training days throughout the year, and we can't wait to work with our new recruits in schools. Wishing everyone every success as they develop their own skills and create more active opportunities for young people across West Lothian!
