Hoylake Links Manager, Bledge, explains the thinking behind one of the most significant changes made to the 7th over the winter.
With the front left bunker replaced by a swale, the hole now asks for more imagination, offering a wider range of recovery shots while staying true to the character of links golf.

Hoylake's first rule book.
Printed in 1872, just three years after the Club was founded, this is the earliest known bound copy of Royal Liverpool's Rules and Regulations.
Long before golf's rules were standardised, clubs wrote and played by their own. This remarkable booklet offers a rare glimpse into those early years and the foundations on which Hoylake was built.
Carefully restored by the Paper Conservator at National Museums Liverpool, it is one of the many stories preserved within the Club's heritage collection.
