Ive been working with Michael for nearly 3 years now and have absolutely loved working alongside him.

Over that time, alongside Branding | Graphic Design our socials and marketing across ELEV8 and Lu&Lo have massively progressed, and I’m really proud of the overall aesthetics of the brands.

We’ve always believed that social media and marketing isn’t just about chasing likes, views or followers.

It should be a clear representation of our brand.

Your social media is your digital business card, when someone lands on your page, they should immediately understand who you are, what you do and the standards you represent.

We’ve continued to develop that together over the last few years, and now it’s time for the next step.

Really excited to announce what we’re working on together next month šŸ‘€

When we started ELEV8 nearly 4 years ago, I never imagined we’d grow to 3 Liverpool locations and 1 in Wrexham.

So fortunate to do what I love every single day.

I love working with a team. It’s so important to me that every single person feels like they’re developing and moving forward in their career, not just turning up.

And we’ve achieved that over the last 4 years:

Coaches going from part time to full time.

Coaches leaving other careers behind to pursue strength and conditioning.

Coaches learning how to manage and lead.

More growth = more opportunities for the team.

This is only the beginning. šŸ–¤

I’ve only been fortunate enough to have a few people in my life really be on at me to do better, in work, sport and life.

My mum.

A little when I boxed when I was younger.

A period early in my Army career when I wanted to transfer trades.

And when I worked at my first civilian gym.

Other than that, the standards I set and the pressure to keep pushing have mostly been self-governed.

And although I thrive off that, I always say to people: you don’t realise how lucky you are to have someone who expects more from you.

Someone who pushes you to be better, both for yourself and for the team around you.

If you have a coach, a boss, a parent or anyone in your corner who keeps pushing you and holding you to a higher standard, understand where it comes from.

It’s because they believe you’re capable of more.

Thrive off it. Welcome it. Let it drive you.

Don’t always see being challenged as a personal attack.

Sometimes the people who demand the most from you are the ones who see the most in you.

Team culture ELEV8 PERFORMANCE GYM

The EP team has grown to 10 of us now. Strength & Conditioning coaches, nutritionist, apprentice and photographer/videographer.

Each person sets the standard for the person next to them.

We demand high standards from each other, and that creates an environment where you want to perform at your best, not just for yourself, but for the team.

Having something greater than yourself to represent is massive. It gives you direction, accountability and a reason to keep pushing the standard.

Different roles. Different strengths. One team.

Some life working alongside the EP team!

Driven by a purpose greater than myself.

I thought I knew what hard work was before I became a dad and husband.

It’s a blessing and a curse knowing exactly who and why you’re building for.

It gives you deep foundations. A reason to keep pushing when you’re tired, stressed or things aren’t going your way.

But it’s relentless. There’s always more to do and it never really feels complete.

The hardest part for me is always being torn between wanting to spend more time at home and wanting to spend more time building something for my family.

I don’t think you ever get that balance completely right.

All we can do is keep showing up, keep pushing and doing our best to be a solid man.

Some life being your dad and husband ā¤ļø

Never a dull moment running a coffee shop 🤣

As we push into year 2 of Lu&Lo, the aim stays the same, continue to deliver high standards, great coffee and the best environment possible.

As Lu&Lo continues to grow, the next step is building the right structure and team around the business. Putting that in place will give us the foundations to keep improving and, hopefully, explore another location in the future.

A big focus for year 2 is introducing a Shop Manager and Operations Manager, while giving our senior baristas more ownership over the coffee and product.

Like most new business owners, letting go of control isn’t always easy šŸ˜‚

But I believe it’s essential.

Essential for the growth of the business.
Essential for the development of the team.
And essential for allowing me, as the owner, to spend more time working on the business rather than always working in it.

The first few weeks of year 2 have been amazing.

Let’s see what the rest of the year brings ā˜•ļøšŸ“ˆ
