🏓 TTU Summer Camp in Coleraine!

TTU enjoyed a fantastic week promoting table tennis at local summer camps, giving young people the opportunity to try the sport, develop new skills and have plenty of fun along the way.

🏓 A fantastic month of council summer camps!

TTU visited leisure centres in Larne, Carrickfergus, Ballymena and Coleraine, introducing table tennis to an impressive 232 young people — 133 boys and 99 girls — from 58 different primary and secondary schools.

Here are a few photos from the Coleraine camp, where everyone had a great time learning new skills and enjoying the sport.

TTU will now follow up with several schools that had strong attendance at the camps, helping to create more opportunities for young people to keep playing! 👏

🏓☀️ Summer Scheme Fun! ☀️🏓

It was a busy and enjoyable July for Table Tennis Ulster, with fantastic summer scheme sessions at St Comcille’s Primary School and Shimna Integrated College.

Pupils at St Comcille’s enjoyed four fun-filled days developing their table tennis skills, playing games and even making the most of the sunshine on the outdoor table! Meanwhile, students at Shimna learned new skills, improved their technique and enjoyed plenty of great rallies.

Well done to everyone who took part, and thank you to both schools for welcoming TTU. We’re already looking forward to returning to Shimna for more sessions in September! 😊

🏓 Commonwealth Championships Complete 🇮🇳

After 10 great days of competition in India, our Northern Ireland teams have returned home with plenty of valuable experience and positives to build upon.

Our doubles and mixed doubles pairings faced tough draws and exited in the Round of 64. There were also some good wins throughout the singles competition, although no NI players progressed to the main knockout stage.

A top-10 finish for the men’s team and 11th place for the women’s team gives Team NI a strong foundation to build on as we continue working towards 2030.

A massive thank you to SNI, Hutchinson Engineering, Gilfresh and Wilson’s Country for their generous sponsorship/funding, and to Teessport for coming on board as our official kit sponsor.

Finally, thank you to all the players, coaches, organisers and everyone behind the scenes who helped make the trip possible. Everyone represented Northern Ireland with pride throughout a memorable 10 days of competition. 👏

Commonwealth Championships — Day Three Update 🇮🇳

The team events have now concluded, with plenty of positives for both Northern Ireland sides.

The men secured two victories, edging Sri Lanka 3–2 before recording a convincing 3–0 win over Namibia. A 3–0 defeat against Scotland in their final match saw them finish 10th overall.

The women were defeated 3–1 by Cyprus but responded well in their final team match, overcoming South Africa 3–2 to secure 11th place overall.

Well done to all the players and coaches on their efforts throughout the team competition. Attention now turns to the singles and doubles events, which begin tomorrow.

Congrats to Adrian Brown who also representing Northern Ireland at today’s Commonwealth AGM and travelled as team lead.

Our new TTU Participation and Inclusion Officer, Jane, recently visited Glenburn Table Tennis Club, based at Glenburn Methodist Church Halls near Forestside, Belfast.

Glenburn is a truly inclusive club that brings together players of all ages and abilities. There was a fantastic atmosphere, great work taking place and plenty of inspirational stories from players throughout the club.

The club’s Summer Scheme is also running throughout July and August:

Whether you are completely new to table tennis or already play, everyone is welcome to come along for fun, fitness, friendship and fair play! 👏

🏓 Commonwealth Championships — Day Two Update 🇮🇳

After two busy days of competition in India, our Northern Ireland men’s and ladies’ teams have represented us proudly and produced several strong performances.

The men secured victories over Bangladesh 3-1 and Botswana 3-1 during the opening stage, alongside tough losses against Canada 0-3 and Singapore 0-3. They later faced Scotland in the third-place play-off, where they were defeated 0–3. However, the final scoreline did not fully reflect how close the contest was, with two of the matches going right down to the deciding set. Next up is the playoffs for places 9-15 and they won their first match in the group 3-2 over Cyprus.

The ladies began their campaign with an excellent victory over South Africa 3-2 before facing strong opposition from hosts India 0-3 and the Maldives 1-3. They then progressed to the second-round group for places 9-15 and have recorded another impressive result, defeating Botswana 3–1.

Well done to all the players and coaches on their efforts across the opening two days. Keep up the great work, Team NI! 💪
