We are pleased remind all our Club Members that the Ruston Marconi Judo Club Annual Club Championships will be taking place on Sunday 19th July. This is always a fantastic event and an opportunity for our members to showcase the skills and progress they have made throughout the year.
As part of the Championships, we will be holding a raffle fundraiser to help raise money towards the purchase of new judo mats for the club. Our goal is to raise Β£1,000 towards this important investment.
On Thursday 25th June, each club member will be given 10 raffle tickets, we would be grateful if they could sell these to friends, family, neighbours, and colleagues wherever possible. Each raffle ticket will be sold for Β£2. Your support will make a significant difference in helping us reach our fundraising target.
We would also like to thank our new Club Child Welfare Officer, Sarah Kirk, who has already secured many prize donations from generous local businesses.
To help make the raffle an even greater success, we are asking club members and their families, if they are able, to donate small prizes that can be combined into raffle hampers. Suitable donations might include:
Boxes of chocolates or sweets
Bottles of wine
Beauty or toiletry products
Gift sets
Other small raffle prizes
If you would like to donate, please bring any items along to the club over the next 2 or 3 training sessions, if possible, we would like to have collected any donations by Thursday 9th July.
Thank you for your continued support of Ruston Marconi Judo Club. We look forward to seeing everyone at the Club Championships and appreciate any assistance you can provide with the raffle fundraiser.

Over the last 6 weeks, all three of our groups have been working on attack transitions.
Attacking using an Ashi-Waza technique, that is successfully defended but allows Tori to take advantage of Uke's lost balance to attack with a much bigger throw. Once on the ground, Uki has taken a defensive position, Tori then continues the transition with a turnover into Osaekomi.
Our groups have all learnt some new turnovers that will hopefully help in the upcoming competitions and grading events.
