🥈 Massive well done to Lily today who competed at the BJA East Anglian Fours🥈

At just 15 years old, Lily had to move up into the senior category due to nobody being in her own age group — and what a performance she gave!

Fighting older and more experienced players, Lily won 2 out of her 3 contests against a blue belt and a brown belt, only losing to another brown belt competitor. An incredible effort earning her a silver medal!

Stepping up to fight seniors as a junior can be very intimidating, but Lily showed real courage and determination today and has done herself and the club proud! 👏🥋

Thanks to Kayne who went with her to coach today.

Videos will be in the comments 😀

Today, Acorn Judo Club attended the Branston Community Group “Village Life – Discover Your Community” event. We had a fantastic day running the tuck shop, meeting members of the local community, and demonstrating what we do at Acorn. 🥋

It was great to see so many people getting involved, asking questions, and even joining in with some judo activities. Events like this are a brilliant way to showcase the club, meet new faces, and promote the benefits of judo for all ages and abilities.

A huge thank you to everyone who came over to support us — and hopefully we’ll be welcoming some new members onto the mat very soon! 💪🥋

Branston Community Group - Good Neighbour Scheme (Lincolnshire) thanks for having us 😀

🥋 LOCAL COMPETITION TIME! 🥋

A great opportunity for all our members to get some competition experience at a fantastic local event hosted by Ruston Marconi Judo Club on Sunday 5th July 2026.

Whether it’s your very first competition or you already have experience competing, we’d love to see as many of our members entering as possible. Competitions are brilliant for building confidence, learning new skills, testing yourself and most importantly — having fun and representing the club! 💪

All abilities are encouraged to enter, so please don’t think you need to be “good enough” before competing. Every experienced judoka started somewhere, and stepping onto the mat is already an achievement in itself 👏

If you’re interested in entering or would like more information, please speak to Sophie at the club.

Let’s get as many of you as possible and we will be there to support each other! 🔥🥋

INTERNATIONAL HOUVAST TOURNAMENT
MIERLO - THE NETHERLANDS

A huge well done to our 3 competitors this weekend representing the A.J.A National Squad in Holland. Although the medals didn’t come this time, every one of them showed determination, courage and great spirit on the mat. Competing internationally is a massive achievement in itself, and the experience gained will only make them stronger going forward.

A big thank you as well to all the families and supporters who travelled, encouraged and helped make it such a fantastic weekend. The atmosphere, teamwork and memories made were brilliant both on and off the mat.

Keep training, keep improving and keep enjoying the journey! 🥋💪

Big thanks to Aja Midland Area and Official AMATEUR JUDO ASSOCIATION National Page for the support and Budovereniging De Hechte Band for hosting and allowing us to join in a training session tomorrow 😀
