Players wanted 🔵⚪️

Following confirmation of our promotion to the Sunday Prem, Scothern FC are looking to add one or two quality players to the squad.

We are looking for players who have already competed at a good standard, whether that be Sunday Premier, Lincolnshire Saturday League, academy football or similar. If that sounds like you, get in touch.

Premier Division confirmed for 2026/27

Following the league AGM, the divisions have now been finalised and we can confirm Scothern FC will be competing in the Premier Division this season after finishing 3rd in Division One last year.

A new challenge lies ahead, with plenty of strong sides in the division, and this is how things are set heading into the new season, which gets underway on 6th September.

As we prepare for the step up, we are also looking to add one or two new faces to the squad. If you are interested or want to know more, please feel free to get in touch.

End of Season Awards 2025/26

The lads came together last Friday to sign off the 2025/26 season. We finished third in the league, an improvement on last season’s placement, but ultimately it is a year we look back on with mixed feelings after falling short of silverware. There were some excellent performances and memorable moments along the way, but also frustration at key moments throughout the season. We know the standards we set ourselves and will be looking to reset and go again in 2026/27.

🏆 Top Goalscorer: Jack Forrester
Foz found the net 19 times this season. A constant goal threat whose energy and work rate never stop, while always creating chances for both himself and his teammates.

🏆 Goal of the Season: Haydon Tatton
Hayds may not score many, but when he does they are usually special. His 30-yard fading strike away at Metheringham was a worthy winner this year.

🏆 Assistant Manager’s Player of the Season: Jake Griffiths
Our captain, who unfortunately could not be with us on the evening. Jake is a player who often does not get the praise he deserves. Dominant in the air, physical in the challenge and always driven by his desire to win.

🏆 Manager’s Player of the Season: Sam Cooke
Cookie’s commitment, reliability and footballing ability never go unnoticed, and his consistent performances throughout the season rightly earned him this year’s award.

🏆 Joint Players’ Players of the Season: Stocksy & Foz .98
Nothing separated the pair in the players’ vote. Foz once again picks up recognition for his goals, energy and relentless work ethic, while Stocks showed his selfless attitude all season, often filling unfamiliar roles for the good of the team while continuing to perform at a high level.

Finally, a huge thank you to our sponsors: Daniel Charles, Strategic Infrastructure Solutions, Darren Benson Crop Spraying and The Bottle & Glass. Your support throughout the season, as always, is hugely appreciated.

Tomorrow we travel to OAP FC for our penultimate fixture of the season. A tough midweek test away from home as we look to finish strongly.

Apologies for another delayed update, but our final home game against Metheringham FC was cancelled as they were unable to raise a side. Another three added to the board, but not in the way we had hoped, as it turns into a frustrating end to the season.

Final home game of the season this weekend as we host Metheringham FC. One last chance to get down and support the lads at Scothern.

Apologies for the late update, but our fixture on Wednesday against Newtoft United was cancelled as they were unable to raise a side. The points were awarded to us, meaning another three added as we head into the final run of games.

Another tight encounter ends in defeat as fine margins prove costly.

The reverse fixture from Sunday saw another closely fought contest against Shakespeare United, with both sides fully aware of the importance of the result. It followed a similar pattern to the weekend, with Shakespeare having the better of the early exchanges, going close with a header that drifted past Ryan’s right-hand post.

We grew into the game and had the better chances of the first half. Foz went the closest to scoring when he was played through one-on-one but, with the keeper holding his position well, his effort was kept out. Just before the break Tommy put in a superb cross from the right which was met by Jake G at the front post who saw his header across goal land on the roof of the net as we went in level.

The breakthrough came in the second half after a scrappy spell in midfield where possession changed hands a few times before falling to Shakespeare on their left. The ball was worked wide and crossed in, eventually being met at the back post and headed firmly into the top right corner. The game continued as a physical battle throughout, and Shakespeare doubled their lead with around ten minutes to go, a long-range effort looping into the top corner after a foul in the build-up was not given.

We pushed hard in the closing stages, throwing bodies forward, with our best chance coming when Boz delivered from the right and Jake G headed powerfully towards the bottom left corner, but the keeper saw it all the way and made the save. A couple of efforts from distance followed, but it was not to be.

Another game decided by fine margins against a strong side, with plenty still to play for as we head into the final run of fixtures.

Goalscorers:
None

MOTM: Jake Griffiths – Managed a strong forward line superbly, dominant in the air, excellent in 1v1 situations and a real threat going forward.
