👊🏼 Curiosity 👊🏼

Over the last 2-3 years I have been asked many times why I do what I do. Some think it’s mental, some think it is cool, some (predominantly my family) think it is stupid 🤷‍♂️

The simple answer…

Curiosity.

There are a lot out there who do Half Marathons, Marathons, Hyrox’s etc (that is entirely fine!) and stick to it. Some tick by getting quicker. I tick by going into uncharted territory

The buzz for running came when I chalked 5km… then did 10km, then did a half, a marathon, an ultra, you get the memo

Taking the body to new lengths, chasing new distances, for me is what it is about. The ability to run far. That is why the buzz at lash weekends BYU for me was so high and why the next has been booked

You don’t know who is feeling good
You don’t know the front runners
Anyone is capable
You run your own race

The simple answer? I am curious to what my body can do 🤷‍♂️

(almost like has told me to go this route for some time now lol)

6.7km on the hour, every hour 🌽

77.5km / 11 laps ✅

Ruthless - 30 degree heat & 1000m Elevation gain ☀️ ⛰️

One thing is for certain. The setup, the atmosphere was absolutely mega. For a BYU debut I am happy. That format of race is for me. Not about speed but about mental battles & endurance. A solid block of training and there is sooo much more to give

The two major factors for me:
1) My ankle is COMPLETELY FINE
2) I’ve learnt, got experience & next time the same mistakes are not made

When people say every lap those 1%’s make a difference they are not kidding 🤣

Shoutout - & .fit crewing when their race was done 🤟

Close to the debut of a BYU 🥾

For those who don’t know a BYU is simple…

6.7km of a fixed route, every hour on the hour, until 1 remains

A game of:
- physical condition
- mental resilience
- strategy
- fuelling

So with that comes a hard carb load 🤝

Just shy of 700 grams carbs in the furnace with another day of the same before we lace up, fuel up, stick to the gameplan and dance with the devil for as long as my body (& .fit .tfp ) will let me 🫡

Proper work - 👊🏼

A serious stint of work from Sarah up until now. After seeing her partner Sam get in the mix & make a big shift she soon joined the party

Nailing everything put in front of her. She will be the first to admit that at times her perfectionism can be her own worst enemy, so more often than not keeping the head 🥜 in the right spot was the key🔑

Amongst doing this we still kept a good social life with meals out & beverages along the way. As I say to anyone, you CAN balance both IF you want to make it work - class 🍻

Proud of you mate - new goals set, back to work we go 🫡

So so sick that I get to call this work. Watching people go from complete novices to building serious strength & engines is absolutely mega 🤟

Week 27 in the 💼

Finding some rhythm & momentum now. 7 sessions & 1 match day wrapped up. A belter of a week done.

Stacking days, stacking weeks. That is all it is a game of. Nailing the basics for the majority of the time. You do that & you will progress IF the setup is correct 🤝

Hugggeee week ahead now. Backyard Ultra Marathon - The Debut. The baseline set ahead of 2027

Onto the next 🤟

I FAILED 😞

Jokes - thanks for taking the bait 🤝 My second time out on a bike in a good 10 years. I specify “a bike” as safe to say I am not quite ready for my TT bike with the whole changing of handle bars🤣

Let’s just say I learnt this the hard way after falling into a bramble bush on my first attempt to do so🙃

For now, I get time on the saddle with a standard road bike, build pace & build resilience in the legs. There is certainly a long road ahead to get to where I need to be

This goal, this is what I have lacked, this is what I have missed. The feeling of simply biting off more than I can chew so having no choice but to work like a dog to reach that standard

And that we shall do - we will hear “You are an Ironman” one day 🫡

Absolute grafter since day 1 - 🤟

-27.4kg ✅

Apart from one stag do & one holiday not a single beat has been missed. Serious graft until now champ

The basics have been nailed from the off. Steps, nutrition have been done 100%. Then over the last few weeks there has been an introduction of training 🤝

Not only that, his Rugby & Cricket performance has reaped the rewards of it

Serious shift to now brother, proud, not satisfied 🫡

There is plenty which can change, plenty which cannot

…11th July we get underway. The lead up has not been ideal but an absolute given is on the day everything in the tank gets given 🤝

Time to dance with the devil & push boundaries once again
