Training shouldn’t be another thing that takes from you.

Done properly, it should give something back.

I’ll be honest ; that thing called “motivation” is pretty much non-existent for me , and that started since having kids 6 years ago...

I’m a heavily involved dad of two, I run a busy business, I’ve got two huskies and a household to keep moving.

I’m in that season of life where I blink and the day is done. And I know many of you feel the same...(For context, no...everyone doesn’t have the same 24 hours in a day 😉 )

I’m tired probably 90% of the time. There are plenty of days when I’m not mentally there, I’m in a bad mood and training is the last thing I feel like doing.

But I know myself well enough now to know this:

If I get around other people in these 4 walls at Tribe and follow the session my body needs that day ; rather than letting my tired head make the decision ; I always walk out feeling like a different person. Always.

Clearer. Lighter. Happier!

And that matters far beyond what I lifted, how many calories I burned or what the session looked like.

Because I walk back through the door more aligned with the things I value most.

A happier dad.
A more present husband.
A better coach.
More like myself again.

And I know this isn’t just me.

I see it at Tribe every day...

People arrive after broken sleep, school runs, long shifts, stressful days and with a head full of everything else life is asking of them.

Most don’t always arrive motivated.

They arrive human.

Then they train around good people. They follow a session that has already been thought through for them. They’re coached through what they need that day.

And they leave differently from how they walked in.

That’s what so many people misunderstand about consistency.

It isn’t waking up feeling fired up every day.

It’s having the right place, the right people and a plan that carries you when motivation doesn’t turn up.

Sometimes the most important result from a session isn’t what you did inside the gym.

It’s the version of you that walks back out.

You don’t need to arrive motivated.

Just arrive.

I can work with the rest 🙂

There’s a massive difference between having access to a gym and actually having a place you want to show up to.

You can rent the kit.

You can put your headphones in.

You can train completely on your own.

And there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that.

But ask yourself…

How many people actually stay consistent for years doing that?

Because consistency isn’t really about knowing what exercises to do.

It’s about having a reason to keep showing up.

And when you train around like-minded people, something changes.

You know the people around you.

They know you.

You notice when someone hasn’t been in.

You celebrate each other’s progress.

You push each other when you’re having a s**t session.

And over time, the people you met because you wanted to get fitter become your mates.

Some of them become lifelong friends.

And suddenly training isn’t just another thing on your to-do list.

It becomes part of your life.

That’s why I’ve always believed the environment you train in matters massively.

Because the best training programme in the world means absolutely nothing if you don’t enjoy showing up.

Give someone a room full of equipment and they can train.

Give them a community of people they genuinely enjoy being around…

and they’re far more likely to keep coming back.

That’s the difference.

We don’t just want people to get fit.

We want to create a place where people want to show up.

And I now have the evidence with the majority of the members are now 5, 10, 15 years in at this wonderful place …

they’re still showing up…! 🖤

For 18 years, I’ve worked in the fitness industry. And I have to share a thought…

If there’s one thing I’ve changed my mind about, it’s what I actually believe a successful transformation looks like.

The fitness industry is obsessed with before & after photos.

Smaller waist. Abs. Lower body fat. That visual ‘wow’ to get the engagement up.

And yes ; there’s absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to change how you look.

But what if that’s only the beginning? What if we made the the bi product instead of the only measurement of success or failure?

Because the transformations I’m most proud of at Tribe aren’t necessarily the ones you can see in a photo.

They’re the person who was too unconfident to play with their kids… who now says “let’s go.”

The person who never thought they could run… who completes their first half marathon.

The person who thought fitness was simply about losing weight… who suddenly discovers they can lift, run, hike, compete, travel, play and experience more of life.

Yesterday, I had Tribe members in their 20s all the way up to 60+ doing exactly that!

And that’s the kind of fitness I want to create.

Not something you do for 4-12 weeks and then struggle to maintain.

Something that gives you the strength, confidence, fitness and capability to live a better life for decades.

Because looking better is great.

But being capable of more is the real transformation.

That’s Tribe 🖤

IYKYK 😎

A Friday at Tribe is all about blowing off some steam, surrounding yourself with good people, good energy and a great environment.

People of all ages. All fitness abilities. All strengths. All coming together for one purpose ; to walk out of these four walls feeling just that little bit better than when they walked in.

What an environment. What a way to end the week, every single week!!

These four walls will always be the place to be. 🖤

What absolute legends these are in this photo.

Smash it today, guys. Well done! 👊

Tribe is still… fully booked!

A quick but important update for anyone who has been considering joining us.

Tribe has now been fully booked since April and, after looking carefully at the current membership and session availability, it is likely to be at least September before I can take anyone else on.

This means I am currently not accepting any new memberships or trial starts.

Of course, being in this position makes me incredibly proud and grateful. 🙏🏼

If you would like to join Tribe in the future, the waiting list is now open.

Register your interest here:

https://form.typeform.com/to/DdFk0qn4

As soon as suitable spaces become available, I will begin contacting those on the list. September is currently the earliest realistic estimate, but I won’t open additional spaces until I know I can maintain the standard our members deserve 🤝

Finally, thank you to every single Tribe member!

Being fully booked since April isn’t simply about numbers. It reflects the community you have all helped build, the consistency you continue to show and the atmosphere you create every time somebody walks through our doors.

I never take that for granted 💪💪

TRIBE MEMBER OF THE HALF YEAR: RICHARD 👊 (AKA King Richard 😅)

I wanted to recognise someone who, to me, represents exactly what Tribe is all about.

Richard has trained with me for a couple of years and had already nailed the first part of the process ; showing up consistently and making training part of his lifestyle. But this year he decided it was time to tackle the next stage: improving his health, fixing his relationship with food and becoming the healthiest version of himself.

Since January, he’s gone from around 110kg to 96kg, improved his blood sugar control massively and become fitter, stronger and healthier than ever.

But the results aren’t why he won this award.

Along the way there have been injuries, back issues, sciatica, work pressures and plenty of reasons to stop. He didn’t stop. He kept showing up.

That’s what consistency really is.

On top of that, Richard is one of the best team members you could ask for. Always encouraging others, fist bumping and always working hard and always bringing energy to the room (even if the banter is occasionally questionable 😂).

Most importantly, he genuinely wants everyone around him to do well.

Richard, I’m incredibly proud of what you’ve achieved so far. Your effort hasn’t gone unnoticed and your contribution to Tribe is hugely appreciated.

What a first half of the year, mate.

We’re nowhere near finished yet 👊 , Ross.

Tomorrow we start a new block at Tribe! 🫡

And over the last few weeks, I’ve put absolutely everything I can into making this place feel even better…
Not just look better; FEEL better!

Because to me, a gym isn’t just racks, dumbbells and flooring.
It’s the room you walk into when you’ve had a stressful day 😮‍💨
It’s the lighting 💡
The sound 🎵
The space
The kit in your hands 🏋️
The way the place makes you feel the second you step through the door 😌

I’ve always believed that the environment matters.
If the room feels chaotic, soulless, intimidating, cold, loud or thrown together, it affects how you train..

But when the space feels calm, focused, clean, sharp and purposeful, it gives you something back 🤝
That’s what I’ve been trying to create here.

Every panel, every light, every bit of equipment, every layout change, every detail has been thought about with one thing in mind:
How do I make this the best possible space for group training?
Not a commercial gym where you’re left to figure it out.
Not a room full of random kit.
But a coached space where people can come in, switch off from the outside world, feel looked after, train properly, and get the absolute best out of themselves.
The acoustic panels aren’t just there because they look good.
They make the room sound better.
The lighting isn’t just there because it looks cool.
It changes the atmosphere.
The equipment isn’t just bought for the sake of having more kit.
It’s chosen because it helps us coach better sessions.
That’s what Tribe is to me 😊
A place built with purpose.
A place where people are coached properly.
A place where training feels different.
A place where every detail is there to help you show up, work hard, and feel proud of yourself when you leave.
I’ve worked relentlessly on this place because I genuinely care about what people experience when they walk through these doors.

And tomorrow, we start the next block.
Stronger training.
Better structure.
Better environment.
Same Tribe.
Honestly, I can’t wait 😍

What a day!! ⛰️

The Dambusters Challenge definitely threw everything at us today. Rain, wind, sideways rain, soaked feet and pants…then sunshine… and then more rain 😅

But honestly, the weather wasn’t what I’ll remember today…

What I’ll remember is the attitude of everyone who came along!

Not a single complaint all day. Just good people getting stuck in, helping each other out, having a laugh, sharing stories and getting the miles done.

As a coach, these are the days that make me proud. Seeing members push themselves outside of the gym, take on a challenge, and keep going when conditions aren’t ideal tells you a lot about a person’s character.

Anyone can show up when it’s easy. Today wasn’t easy, and every single one of you smashed it.

Thank you for making it such a brilliant day. Great conversations, great company and a reminder of why we’ve built the community we have!

33km, 1200m elevation smashed in 7:14… legends!

Proud of every one of you. 👊

This is why Tribe exists! 🖤

I received this message from a client of mine and honestly, it stopped me in my tracks… 😳

Not because he mentioned weight loss.
Not because he mentioned lifting more weight.
Not because he mentioned a before and after photo.
But because he said:
“I truly understood that I need to look after myself to look after the ones I love.”

That is the bit.
That is the real transformation.

For a lot of people, joining a gym isn’t really about chasing abs, PBs or a number on the scales.
Sometimes it’s about finding yourself again…
Sometimes it’s about getting your confidence back.
Sometimes it’s about being around the right people when life has felt heavy.
Sometimes it’s about finally realising that looking after yourself is not selfish.
It’s necessary.

This client said Tribe gave him:
“A platform to thrive and a true sense of belonging.”
And honestly, I don’t think I could explain this place better than that.

Yes, we lift weights.
Yes, we train hard.
Yes, we push each other.
Yes, we have a laugh.

But underneath all of that, Tribe is about helping normal people feel like they belong somewhere while they build a better relationship with themselves.

Not proving anything to anyone.
Not punishing themselves.
Not living in the pain cave just to feel worthy.

Just showing up, doing the work, being supported, and slowly becoming the person they knew they could be.

A stronger body is brilliant.
But a stronger sense of self?
That changes everything.
That’s Tribe 💪🤝
A platform to thrive.
A place to belong.

Wow. What a day. 🥵🏃‍♂️

Edinburgh definitely brought the heat today… but we showed up, dug deep, and got it DONE.

What a way for Tribe to spend a Sunday. Proud doesn’t even cover it.

Huge shoutout to my incredible clients and friends, Josh, Greta and Wilf absolute machines today. 👏

Now it’s time to rest up, refuel and recover… because that was a BLOODY hot one. ☀️🔥
