Day 2 and another great day. A few more to bring the total species for the 2 boats over 2 days to 33.
I added one to the life list, a long wanted Couches Bream. Not a monster, couple of pounds maybe, but a hard fight and a stunning fish. Also a massive crawfish which had I have been home today and not tomorrow it would have been tea, but I donated it to the deckie.
Bit of LRF again in the harbour afterwards but too windy really and only got a couple of Shannies. Home tomorrow, I was going to fish but lots to sort ahead of the Poole 4-man species competition on Thursday and the wind is due to stay up over the weekend.

First day of a 2-day training camp at Padstow ahead of the UK Military Inter-Services at the end of the month. A succesful day, managed some decent po***ck up to 6ish pounds on lures which made a nice change from the usual bait fishing - 7 species personally and 25+ across the 2 boats. Then when we got in I had an hour in the harbour LRFing and managed a sand goby and shanny to add to the annual species comp.

Some places available on my hosted trip to No Boundaries Oman in Sep/Oct 27. It will be my third trip and I am really looking foward to this one at a different time of year, the variety should be brilliant
We are holding a couple of places for people still deciding but there is 1-2 slots available on this trip which promises to be AWESOME. The first SFC trip post Khareef/monsoons when the sardines are arriving and the seas come alive with allsorts of species. The GT are still present, arguably in more numbers but smaller, but also a host of other species including one target of the trip, Amberjack. There will be jigging as well to mix up the popping/lures.

With the girls otherwise engaged with a play date this morning a pink chit was happily and freely authorised and I opted to head to the Trent. I was hoping to find the place quiet and allow me to lure fish for chub but it was heaving, and to make it worse a lure angler had beaten me and thrashed the only free swims. Knowing this was likely, I had a plan b and that was trotting for barbel. A mix of pellet, maggot and h**p with snails soon got them going, fished 3 swims and caught in 2 of them, the other was plagued by a small pike so left him to it.
I had some nice barbel on the float and a load of roach, dace and chublets. Left the centrepin in the car as I had a new reel to christen from Okuma Freshwater UK. It handled the very hard fighting barbel very well. I did lose one to a hookpull and had another on rolled meat but it came upstream and did me in a snag before I even noticed it had taken my bait! Still learning that technique 😂
