What a busy day!

We have had a good full day of fab lessons, everyone did really well

Ollie was telling us he was a bit uncomfortable in his saddle so today he has had no expense spared and had a brand new saddle from SG Saddles, who fits all our ponies and horses saddles and comes highly recommended! Sam came straight out and got him fitted up and now he is the proud owner of a very nice saddle! 😬

Rocco was looking a bit bothered by the pesky flies and is now the owner of a lovely new fly rug

Our ponies and horses comfort is paramount and hopefully this then shows when you come and ride them ☺️🐎

⭐️PONY CLUB CENTRE COMPETITION ⭐️

Hi all, as some of you are aware we are planning on entering the above competition which is a video entry

We are planning on videoing the dressage and the jumping rounds on

22nd July

29th July

We still have a few slots available to practice and film your entry

Please make sure you child has:

Hair tied back or a hairnet on

Gloves

Jodhpurs need to be black, beige, navy or white

Smart plain jumper or base layer, no hoodies

Riding or jodhpurs boots to be worn

No jewellery

Individual entry fees are £14

We will submit the video entries for you ☺️

Today we managed to do lessons in the shade ☂️of our lovely indoor which had a breeze blowing through….

We took things easy and the horses and riders had breaks 🥤 horses were also hosed off after and dry hooves oiled. Tomorrow they will have a day off and a recovery mash each 🐴

Some of our riders worked on balance through the skill of ba****ck riding, we had fun and it meant the horses had the saddles off their backs ☺️

SATURDAY LESSONS

We will be running lessons tomorrow and some hacks out

Please bring a drink with you and do be mindful your lesson may be a little steadier than usual, our ponies and horses are slowly getting used to the heat, but their welfare will be paramount and always come first

Although lessons haven’t always ran this week, it’s been super busy behind the scenes, our ponies and horses had Clare the Dengie nutritionist out to weigh them and advise on their diets, they all had their regular farrier appointment too, and a couple had their physio, with Vitalise Veterinary Physio, all to keep them healthy and happy for you our lovely customers to ride 🐎☺️

And of course, Joey left to his fantastic retirement home at Forest Equine Escapes, where he can live out in a small herd which will be much better for his joints ☺️

VOLUNTEERS

We will be running lessons tomorrow but the staff will be wanting to get on and get home after lessons

Due to it being so hot still we have decided it’s best not to have under 18 volunteers on the yard tomorrow

HOT WEATHER 🥵

We have made the decision to CANCEL tomorrow’s lessons as the temperature is expected to be even higher 🌡️

We have stayed open this week as much as we can but I think tomorrow’s heat is just a step too far

Our ponies and horses welfare comes first and its forecast to feel like 36 degrees tomorrow

We are hoping to go ahead Saturday so we will hopefully see you all then ☺️

Today handsome Joey has gone to his wonderful retirement home. He now gets to join 2 lovely horses in their little herd. We know how popular Joey is here at the centre, but it’s now time for Joey to enjoy his retirement and we know he will thrive in his new home ☺️

Molly and I will also get to see Joey when we go on our horsey holiday ☺️

So, the first of our big announcements…

Everyone, meet Joey.

Joey has joined our little herd to enjoy his retirement. His mum is one of our lovely guests and got in touch after I posted that I was looking for a companion to keep Lottie and Spirit company.

He’s a 14.2hh, 16 year old Connemara who travelled all the way from Shropshire this morning. Over the next few days he’ll be introduced to Lottie and Spirit, as sadly Puzzle will be leaving us tomorrow.

Joey walked straight off the horsebox and into the paddock as though he’d lived here all his life. The moment I saw him, I knew he was exactly the right horse for us.

Welcome to Forest Equine Escapes Joey. I love him already ♥️
