After a long pre-season, the wait is finally almost over! 💪

We kick off our season away to St Leonard’s in the Cup on 19th September, before returning home on 26th September to welcome Uttoxeter for our first home game of the season at Lichfield Sports Club.

The lads have put in a huge amount of work throughout pre-season and the whole team can’t wait to finally get out there and get the season underway! 🔵⚪

2026/27 COMMITTEE

We’re pleased to announce our committee for the 2026/27 season and there are a few changes to welcome!

💙 Ryan Bowen – Club Captain
Ryan continues as captain for his 2nd season in the role. We’re looking forward to another great season under his leadership.

💙 Tom Owen – Vice Captain
Tom steps up to become Vice Captain, taking over from Matt Osburn. A massive thank you to Matt for everything he has done in the role.

📋 Tom Owen – Fixture Secretary
Tom will also be taking on the role of Fixture Secretary this season. Thank you to Gary Osburn for all his hard work looking after the fixtures last season.

🏉 James Crawford – Player Coach
James takes over as Player Coach from James Vicary. A huge thank you to Vicary for all his hard work and commitment in the role. We’re looking forward to Crawford’s training sessions and seeing what he can bring to the squad this season!

👑 Simon Clarke – Club President
Simon continues as Club President, steering the ship and helping keep the club moving in the right direction.

💙 Martin Hughes – Club Chairman
Martin remains as Club Chairman, continuing to play a huge role in the running of the club.

💰 Paul Stanford – Club Treasurer
Paul continues as Club Treasurer, keeping the finances in order behind the scenes.

💙 Scott Leitch – Club Secretary
Scott continues his hard work as Club Secretary, helping keep everything organised behind the scenes and supporting the smooth running of the club.

A huge thank you to everyone who has taken on these roles, as well as those who have previously held them. It takes a lot of work behind the scenes to keep a rugby club running, and we appreciate every bit of it.

🏉 Our Captain. Our Club. Our Cause. 🧡

Everyone at Whittington Rugby Club is incredibly proud to support our captain as he takes on the 2027 London Marathon in aid of Motor Neurone Disease (MND).

This isn't just another marathon. MND is a cause that is incredibly close to his heart and his family, and he's determined to make every mile count by raising as much money as possible to help fund vital research and support for those affected.

Taking on 26.2 miles is a huge challenge, but reaching the fundraising target is just as important. Every donation, no matter how big or small, will make a real difference and will be hugely appreciated.

As a club, we'd love to get behind him and show what the Whittington rugby family is all about.

This week we officially begin pre season training and will be running sessions from now every Tuesday evening. Whit are looking to put the work in for when our season starts on the 5th September. We are always seeking players of any ability, if you’re new to rugby or looking for a new club everyone is welcome. Please message the page if you require any more information.

Looking to get back into to rugby or wanting to try rugby for the first time?!
Everyone is welcome from beginners to veterans, you will be made welcome and to feel at ease.
Come along to one of our pre season training sessions and we are sure you will be hooked!
You will also enjoy some excellent facilities with easy off road parking to access all of this and our licensed clubhouse!
