Shelfield United Whites 3–3 Whittington Raptors U14 Match Report

What a finish! The Raptors showed incredible character and fighting spirit to come from 3–1 down with just five minutes remaining and sn**ch a deserved point against a very good Shelfield United Whites side.

Shelfield opened the scoring, but the Raptors had created the better chances up to that point and continued to push for an equaliser. Their persistence was finally rewarded just before half-time when Austin produced a fantastic finish from distance to make it 1–1 at the break.

The Raptors started the second half with real intent and continued to push for a second goal. They created opportunities and could even have been awarded a penalty as they looked to take control of the game.

However, football can be cruel. Shelfield took control of the game in the middle of the second half and struck two quick fire goals, putting themselves 3–1 ahead with just five minutes left on the clock.

But the Raptors weren’t finished.

They dug deep, refused to give up and Seth pulled one back to make it 3–2, setting up a grandstand finish.

And what followed was something special.

With moments remaining, Seth struck again, finding the net with almost the final kick of the game to complete an incredible comeback and make it 3–3!

A fantastic fighting point for the Raptors against a very well-organised Shelfield team who knew how to play to their strengths. The boys showed tremendous character to keep believing right until the final whistle.

Bertie was absolutely everywhere today. He battled for every ball, covered huge amounts of ground and never stopped working for the team. He epitomised the fighting spirit that ultimately earned the Raptors a point.

WE’RE OFF THE MARK! 🔥

After four months without competitive football, the Warriors made their return in style with a fantastic 2–1 victory!💪

⚽ Jamie opened the scoring from the spot after Ollie won the penalty, before George found the net in the second half to secure all three points!

The boys showed great character, discipline and togetherness, particularly after going behind early. Our work out of possession was excellent, with the team defending brilliantly as a unit and making it difficult for Dragons to play through us.

We also moved the ball with real purpose and showed plenty of the football we’ve been working on throughout pre-season. 👏

⚽️ A fantastic first game of the season for Whittington Colts!⚽️

The boys set the tone from the very start today against Winshill, putting in a fantastic team performance from the first whistle to the last.

There were some wonderful performances right across the pitch, with goals from Elliott, Jude, George and Max (3)🔥⚽️

The team played with incredible energy and really showed the quality they have as a team when everything clicks. It was fantastic to see the effort, attitude and togetherness from the whole squad.

Manager Danny Holliday was incredibly proud of the boys and the effort they put in today. 👏
