The Pells Pool, Lewes is the oldest freshwater outdoor pool or lido in the UK. 2023 Season will start on 6th May.

Pells Pool Autumn timetable 💙💚

From today, we move to our Early Autumn timetable.

Monday-Friday
7am-10am: morning lane swim (hourly sessions)
10-11am: gentle morning swim
11am-4pm: pool closed
4pm-7pm: open session (family friendly)

Saturday and Sunday:
8am-11am: morning lane swim (hourly sessions)
11am-12pm: pool closed
12pm-3pm: open session (family friendly)

The sauna will be open alongside all of these sessions.

Please note, that once the pool temperature drops to below 16 degrees, under 16s will be unable to use the pool.
Additionally, our paddling pool is now closed until next season.

A last reminder that tomorrow 12th September throughout the day we have some brave teams swimming the English channel (in the Pells Pool) We all want to wish them luck and ask that as many people as possible can come down to the pool to support (you do not need to be swimming) and help us raise money for the Pells Pool and Lewes Ambulances for Ukraine.
We will be running a cake sale for Macmillan cancer support and a Bbq will be cooking Hotdogs throughout the day.
Dig deep and support what we hope will be a great charity event day.

The Pells Pool would like to remind you all that multiple teams will be swimming the distance of the English channel this Saturday 12th September in the Pool. The money raised from this event will be split between the Pells Pool and Lewes Ambulances for Ukraine.
We will also be doing a Cake Bake sale with proceeds going to the Macmillan cancer support charity. Donations of cakes would be appreciated.
A BBQ will be running throughout the morning as well.
Please come down (you don't need to be swimming) and support all the swimmers and any donations to any of these charities would be amazing.

Pells Pool Channel Swim - 12th September

Were busy preparing for our Channel Swim and can’t wait to take on the challenge together! 💙

Application forms must now be submitted by Tuesday 1st September to secure your place in the lane. 🏊🏼 🏊🏻‍♀️

We have a few tickets left for the midnight swim tomorrow Saturday 15th August.

The sauna will be open as an add on at £4 with a purchased Midnight swim ticket.

Hopefully the sky will be clear to watch for some shooting stars.

Pells Pool has exciting news. We are happy to be welcoming Gemma back for 3 Mondays during August to bring Dance, Fitness and Fun back to the pool.
£4 per class and an additional charge for your swim.

Pells Pool closed for planned maintenance Monday 10 August 2026

The Pells will be closed on Monday 10 August for essential maintenance.

You won’t be able to book a swim or sauna that day.

The hot and sunny weather means we’ve been extremely busy over the last few weeks. This is fantastic, and we’re grateful for everyone who has come down and enjoyed the pool this year (and thank you for showering before getting in for a swim).
However, the high number of swimmers has affected water quality.
So, we need to drain the pool a little, add more chlorine and carry out a deep clean of the pool and the surrounds, before topping the water back up.

The best way to do this is to close for a day. This is something we typically do once or twice during the season.
We’ll close at 6:30pm on Sunday 9 August and reopen at 7am on Tuesday 11 August.
