CREATIVE ANIMATION WORKSHOP ASSISTANT WANTED
Sessional work across East Sussex
Press Play Films C.I.C. is looking for reliable Workshop Assistants to support our creative animation and Warhammer workshops for children and young people across East Sussex.
We deliver Holiday Activity and Food (HAF) workshops during the school holidays, funded by the Department for Education and coordinated by East Sussex County Council. We also run animation lessons and projects in schools and community settings throughout the year. We also run a weekly youth club for teens in Lewes.
It is a brilliant programme and a lot of fun to be part of!
The role
Working alongside our lead facilitator, you will:
Support children aged 7–16 with clay, paper, whiteboard, LEGO and digital animation activities
Help children operate cameras, iPads and animation software
Provide small-group support, including for children with SEND or who are neurodivergent
Encourage children to participate, develop their ideas and complete their films
Help supervise lunch, breaks and outdoor activities
Assist with setting up, packing away and looking after equipment
Help keep registers and support the smooth running of each session
Follow Press Play Films’ safeguarding and health and safety procedures
About you:
We are looking for someone who:
Has some experience of working with children or young people
Is patient, friendly, dependable and happy to get stuck in
Can work calmly and positively as part of a small team
Has an interest in animation, film, art, crafts or other creative activities
Is comfortable using—or willing to learn how to use—creative technology
Can follow safeguarding procedures and maintain appropriate professional boundaries
Experience supporting children with SEND or neurodivergence would be particularly welcome, but it is not essential. Relevant training can be provided.
No previous animation experience is required, as full training will be given. An interest in animation, filmmaking or art is desirable.
Locations and hours
Workshops take place in Lewes, Newhaven, Eastbourne and other locations across East Sussex.
The work is flexible and sessional, with opportunities available during school holidays and term time throughout the year. Applicants who have a driving licence and access to a car are preferred because workshops take place at different venues.
Pay
Hourly or daily rate depending on experience, responsibilities and the type of workshop.
Safer recruitment
Press Play Films C.I.C. is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Appointments will be subject to:
