🐝 Leigh RUFC U8 Wasps – Match Report 🏉
A lovely sunny Sunday morning saw the Wasps hit the road for an away trip to Tarleton RUFC — and the players certainly looked up for it from the start!
The effort and enthusiasm during the warm-up was fantastic, setting the tone for what turned out to be a brilliant morning of rugby. We played three games in total, with all three teams putting in some excellent performances.
The coaches were particularly pleased with the defensive line today. The players stayed organised, worked hard together and made it very difficult for Tarleton to find any gaps. This, in turn, made the tagging much easier — and the tagging today was absolutely brilliant from everyone! 👏
We also played the new six-tag turnover rule, and all three teams adapted really well. There were a good number of turnovers won by the Wasps across the games, while we managed to keep the pressure on and scored on every set with no turnovers. Some fantastic attacking rugby to go alongside the strong defensive work!
Overall, the teams looked well organised, well drilled and really worked together as a unit. There was plenty of effort, great tagging, good decision-making and, most importantly, plenty of smiles and enjoyment.
It was one of those days where literally anyone could have taken Player of the Match. The standard was that good! After plenty of discussion, the coaches eventually decided on Jacob and Erica. 🏆👏
A massive well done to everyone today. Some great performances across all three teams and plenty for the coaches to be proud of.
