We’re putting the spotlight on our rookies and hearing about their first experience as a Miner from the inside.

First up we have Harry Wright, who plied his trade as one of our starting safeties all season, but also featured in part as a linebacker, kick returner, and even had snaps at wide receiver.

All at Leigh Miners would like to extend a huge thank you to local businesses (and one band 👀) who contributed raffle prizes for our annual Purple v Gold Fundraiser.

Generous gift vouchers were provided by:

Drago’s Gym - Bolton Drago's Gym

Mid Ground Coffee - Westhaughton Mid Ground

Delta Force - Manchester Delta Force Paintball Manchester

Chopstix - Middlebrook

And our big ticket item from The Courteeners was two tickets to any of their autumn shows.

These prizes were greatly appreciated and added some real excitement to our raffle, and over £400 to the club (despite the weather trying to dampen proceedings!)

A big thank you also to our hosts Leigh Miners Welfare Institute who have been fantastic all year.

Open to everyone: newcomers to the sport, players considering a change of team, students, athletes from other sports, or anyone looking to try something new.

All you need is boots, a bottle of water, weather-appropriate clothing and plenty of enthusiasm.

Listed are our first two dates in October, there will be more sessions coming in November.

Wishing the best of luck to the Division one and Division two teams contesting the national finals today.

Our previous division opponents Lancashire Buccaneers have had a fantastic season, taking a 9-0-1 record down to contest their 10-0 southern counterparts in the Ipswich Cardinals. Having both secured promotion, they’ll both want to finish off with an undefeated season, and a ring to boot! The game is available on BAFA’s YouTube channel at 12:00 and will be a thrilling watch.

Newcastle Vikings take on East Kent Mavericks at 17:00 at the same venue, both capping off incredible seasons and a future in premiership level football.

Most of us lean slightly in favour of our northern brethren and hope they bring their championships back to these parts, but overall we want two safe and exciting games contested by the best these leagues have to offer.

Think you can draw up a play that could work for 9v9? Now’s your chance to get creative!

Our teams in Purple vs Gold will use one of the winning designs on the day, they’ll be recorded and posted on our socials, and the winner tagged in the post.

THE RULES:�• Design a play for 9v9�• Your play must include 3 offensive linemen�• 5 players must be on the line of scrimmage�• The centre can be eligible�• Use the templates in the comments on this post, or draw your play by hand and send us a photo!
