115 years ago today!
The first recorded meeting of the Rothley Park Golf Club was held in the club house on 23rd August 1911. At that meeting, chaired by the President, Major Abbott Robinson, the Greens and House Committees were elected, the list of Gentlemen and Lady Members proposed and seconded and the Rules and Regulations agreed. It was noted that ‘no Caddies were to be allowed on Sunday’, and the club’s existence commenced.
40 men started work on the course in the Autumn of 1910, under the supervision of Tom Williamson. Williamson was professional at Notts Golf Club and as well as designing Rothley Park he designed over 60 courses mostly in the Midlands.
The course was officially opened in May 1912. The official opening of Rothley Park Golf Club attracted a number of distinguished guests.

• Front, second from the left - The Earl of Lanesborough
• Front, fourth from the left - James Braid. Winner of 5 Opens

The second RPGC Academy Social was held on Monday evening, 17th August, where 19 of our Adult Beginners/ Improves Academy were joined by 19 Member Volunteers. Everyone went out to play in groups of 3 and 4 before returning to the clubhouse to have a social get together over some drinks and nibbles.
It was fantastic to hear how much everyone enjoyed their games along with meeting each other and socialising together on and off the course. The Socials are always popular and are an important part of the Academy membership/ progression.
Frankie and Claudia did a great job looking after everyone in the clubhouse.
Thanks to all concerned.

Congratulations to Scott Wormleighton who won the L&RGU Champion of Champions for the second time yesterday at Lingdale Golf Club. Scott’s total of 148 beat runner up Spencer Sheffield of Kibworth Golf Club by one shot.

From lush, green fairways in June to a rather more golden look in August! 😎😎

Our course has certainly had to endure some serious sunshine this summer, but there’s still plenty of golf to be played! ⛳️⛳️
Keep watching to see the difference for yourself… same course, very different season! ⛳️⛳️
