πŸ¦“ WHAT A WEEKEND OF RACING! πŸ¦“

What a weekend for our Zebras, with athletes racing on the national stage at Mallory Park and Holme Pierrepont! πŸ”₯

At the IRC & Super Series Grand Finals, algae meant no swimming and relentless rain made for some seriously tough duathlon racing.

Charlotte, Evelyn and Annabelle all produced brilliant qualifying performances to reach the TS2 A Final, while Emmie-Rose battled through a stacked TS3 field to earn her place in the B Final. πŸ’ͺ

πŸ”₯ Charlotte – 7th
πŸ”₯ Evelyn – 18th
πŸ”₯ Annabelle – 22nd
πŸ”₯ Emmie-Rose – 19th overall

In the Super Series, Lola and Flo handled treacherous bike conditions brilliantly, both finishing inside the top 40 despite crashes and numerous DNFs across the field. Javier later faced another huge test, racing alongside the Juniors and showing some superb bike-handling skills in awful conditions. 🚴🌧️

Meanwhile, over at Holme Pierrepont, Ruby and Coach Colin joined a host of Zebras and parents past and present for the HUUB Triathlon Relays. More great racing and a brilliant example of the wider LJTC family representing the club with class and style. πŸ¦“πŸ’™

Sunday brought the IRC Transition Challenge and Mixed Team Relays, rounding off a fantastic weekend of racing and the brilliant news that Team East Midlands finished 4th overall! πŸ‘πŸ†

A huge achievement against the very best young triathletes from across the country, and we’re incredibly proud that our Zebras played their part.

What a weekend of skill, resilience, courage and plenty of Zebra spirit! πŸ¦“πŸ’™

GO ZEBRAS! GO EAST MIDLANDS! πŸ’ͺπŸ†

Congratulations to our amazing Head Coach Matt who has qualified for the World Aquabike championships in Abu Dhabi. Leading by example as always πŸ™Œ. Your zebras are very proud πŸ¦“ πŸŠβ€β™‚οΈ πŸš΄πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ

πŸ¦“ ONCE A ZEBRA, ALWAYS A ZEBRA πŸ¦“

After yesterday’s Darley Moor Duathlon, we wanted to take a moment to recognise three very special members of LJTC who raced in their final East Midlands Junior Race Series event. πŸ’™

πŸ‘‘ RUBY

Ruby has been part of LJTC since 2017, racing for the very first time on 7th April 2018 at RAF Scampton, where she came home with a silver medal in Tri Star. πŸ₯ˆ

Her love of triathlon started by watching big brother Harry. Then Coach Linda arrived with a bike and turbo and Ruby was off… albeit wearing a bedtime onesie and a pair of Crocs! πŸ˜‚

Since then, we’ve watched Ruby grow and flourish into one of the most popular, welcoming and enthusiastic members of our club – and, of course, one of our Queens πŸ‘‘.

She is an absolute pleasure to coach, work with and laugh with. She gives everything her all, supports everyone around her and brings so much personality to LJTC. We’ll definitely miss having her racing alongside our younger Zebras at future Junior Series events, but thankfully we still get to have her at training! 🧑

πŸ’ͺ Henry

Yesterday was also the final Junior Race Series event for β€œHenners”, another of our long-standing Zebras.

With a wealth of triathlon experience and having progressed all the way through to Development squad and Academy, Henry has represented LJTC brilliantly over the years.

While his Junior Race Series days have come to an end, his time as a Zebra certainly hasn’t. We look forward to continuing to have him training with us and wish him every success with whatever racing challenges come next. πŸ¦“

πŸ‰βž‘οΈπŸŠπŸš΄πŸƒ OLLIE

And finally, Ollie.

Ollie’s Junior Race Series journey might have been shorter, but he has certainly made his mark!

Joining LJTC only last year, Ollie proved that you can discover triathlon at any age. He arrived with a wealth of sporting experience, predominantly from rugby, but quickly showed what a talented and versatile athlete he is.

As Ollie heads off to college with a newfound love for our sport, he’ll be joining the college triathlon team and continuing his triathlon journey.

His Junior Race Series adventure may have been short and sweet, but thankfully we’ll still see him turning up in those Zebra stripes, training with us and keeping everyone laughing on a Wednesday night on the field! πŸ˜‚πŸ¦“

🧑 Ruby, Henry and Ollie – thank you.

Our Youth athletes are genuine inspirations to our younger Zebras. They show them where this sport can take you and what years of commitment, friendship, hard work and plenty of fun can look like.

We’ve been incredibly lucky to have all three of you racing with us and for us, and we’re even luckier that you’ll continue to be part of club life.

Yesterday wasn’t goodbye. Far from it.

It was simply the final finish line of your East Midlands Junior Race Series journey.

There are plenty more start lines still to come. πŸŠβ€β™€οΈπŸš΄β€β™‚οΈπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ

πŸ¦“ THE FUTURE ZEBRAS ARE COMING… πŸ¦“

Today, little Albert travelled all the way to York for a very special day… his FIRST EVER TRIATHLON! πŸŠβ€β™‚οΈπŸš΄β€β™‚οΈπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸ’™

At the tender age of just 4 years old, Albert has been training for what probably feels like years waiting for his chance to race! πŸ˜‚ And anyone who knows Albert will know… he was MORE than ready!

πŸŠβ€β™‚οΈ 18m swim
πŸš΄β€β™‚οΈ 1km bike
πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ 500m run

And he absolutely SMASHED IT! πŸ’ͺπŸ†

We are so incredibly proud of our little future Zebra. πŸ¦“ There’s plenty more to come from this one!

And if any of our Zebras need a little inspiration before Oundle tomorrow… here it is. ❀️

Be more Albert. Get out there, give it everything and LOVE racing! πŸ¦“πŸ”₯

Well done, superstar! 🌟

🚨🏊 BREAKING NEWS FROM LJTC… MAN OVERBOARD! 🏊🚨

For the first time in LJTC history, we had a coach take the phrase β€œpool session” a little too literally this morning… πŸ˜‚

πŸ‘ Huge congratulations to Coach Martin, who has officially secured his place in the LJTC history books as the FIRST COACH TO FALL IN THE POOL! πŸ†πŸ’¦

We’re not entirely sure this was the transition practice we had planned… but the entry was spectacular. 🀣

Thankfully, Martin survived, his dignity is questionable, and the athletes now have a story that will probably be told for YEARS. πŸ¦“πŸ˜‚

Coach Martin – LJTC Man Overboard 2026.
A record nobody else is in a hurry to beat! πŸŠβ€β™‚οΈπŸ’¦πŸ†
