A tough day in terms of results, but a valuable experience for the boys.

More importantly, it was a fantastic day with the lads. Seeing them laughing, bonding, and enjoying each other’s company was far more rewarding than winning any football match.

Presentation night for Methley Lions U11s.

As we come to the end of another fantastic season, we’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has been part of it.

To our coaches, thank you for your dedication, patience, and commitment. Everything you have done for the children throughout the season has made a real difference, and your time and effort are truly appreciated.

To all of the children, thank you for your enthusiasm, hard work, and for being such an amazing group. Watching your confidence, teamwork, and skills grow has been a pleasure, and you should all be incredibly proud of yourselves.

Finally, thank you to all of the parents and families for your continued support, encouragement, and commitment throughout the season. We couldn’t do it without you.

🏆 **GALA CHAMPIONS!** 🏆

Saturday 27th June our Methley Vipers U9s delivered an outstanding gala performance, claiming their second gala win in two weeks!

**GROUP STAGE: QUALIFICATION SECURED**
Our journey started with character. Despite two close fought losses to Rothwell Juniors Reds (0-1) and Thorpe Whites (0-1), the lads showed real resilience. We bounced back with three impressive victories:
✅ Swillington Saints Yellow 3-0
✅ Crofton Juniors Blue 1-0
✅ Chapeltown Juniors Reds 3-0

Finished the group stage 3-2, strong enough to set up a quarter-final berth and with real momentum heading into the knockouts.

**KNOCKOUT DOMINANCE** ⚡
The boys' performance in the knockout rounds was exceptional. Even as the heat started to take its toll and legs grew tired, we controlled every high-intensity match with clinical finishing and resolute defending. A comprehensive gala victory:
🎯 QF: Ponte Sports & Social 3-1
🎯 SF: Alverthorpe Jnrs Whites 3-1
🎯 Final: Crofton Juniors Yellow 4-0

**THE PERFORMANCE:**
17 goals scored | 4 conceded | +13 goal difference
A testament to both attacking prowess and defensive solidity throughout.

⭐ **Special mention** to Lucas for an outstanding tournament, capped off with a hat-trick against Chapeltown Juniors—his first treble in a Vipers shirt. His clinical finishing and movement proved instrumental in our offensive success.

Brilliant effort from the whole squad. On to the next one! 💪

A fantastic day for the Strikers yesterday winning the Wakefield owls gala then going on to their presentation…

What a first season it’s been. A first year of competitive football for these lads, and what a learning curve it has been — for them, and for us coaches too. We’ve had the highs: the moments of unbelievable football, the goals, the tackles, the teamwork… and we’ve had the tough days, the ones where we’ve had to dig in, learn, and come back stronger.

But here’s the thing about this group:
They always showed up.
Rain, wind, hail, sideways rain, more rain… they were there.
They gave 100% every single week.
They grew as individuals, and they grew even more as a team.

And when you look at where they finished the season compared to where they started — the improvement is massive. They ended the season flying, full of confidence, full of momentum, and full of excitement for next year. And that’s down to their attitude, their effort, and their love for the game.We couldn’t be prouder of them.

Ellis – The Heartbeat

Ellis is the kid who gives absolutely everything, every single game. He plays with a huge smile, he works his socks off, and he’s the kind of teammate every squad needs — caring, supportive, and always positive.
And of course… a moment he’ll never forget: scoring against Man City. Not many kids can say that. Ellis, you’ve been brilliant this season.

Charlie – The Gentle Giant (Until You Run at Him)
Charlie grew massively into his defensive role this year. He plays with joy, but tackles like a lad twice his size. Fierce, committed, and brave.
And one thing that stands out: he is always the first one over when a teammate takes a knock. That tells you everything about his character. A brilliant season, Charlie.

Finley – The Speed Machine
Finley has always been a strong tackler — with some of the best sound effects in junior football — and his speed is a huge asset to the team. He covers so much ground and his positional play has improved massively as the season has gone on. A proper athlete and a proper team player.

Nathaniel – The Breakthrough Star
What a journey this lad has had. He started the season asking to go in goal… and finished it with a rocket of a shot that scares goalkeepers.
His development has been huge — tackling, working hard, scoring goals, and improving every single week.
A massive 26/27 season is coming for you, Nathaniel.

Seb – The Warrior
Seb is Methley’s little warrior. 100% effort, 100% commitment, 100% of the time.
He bulldozes through anything in his way, dominates defensively, and drives the team forward whenever he can.
He’s been outstanding all season and is a huge reason the Strikers compete and win games. A vital player for this team.

Kye – The Bite and the Magic
Kye gives the Strikers real bite — strong in the tackle, relentless in his work rate… but don’t let that fool you. This kid can play.
A magical left foot, loads of goals, and as the season went on he really grew in bringing his teammates into the game.
A brilliant all‑round footballer and a huge part of the team.

Jacob – The Mid‑Season Game Changer
When Jacob became eligible to play after turning 6, it was like signing a superstar mid‑season.
He added real quality — winning tackles at the back, then driving forward and terrorising teams with his skill.
He scored plenty, created plenty, and lifted the whole team. A massive addition to the Strikers.

Albie – The Dazzler
Albie showed up every single week, no matter the score, no matter the situation, and gave everything.
His feet were dazzling at times — defenders still have nightmares — and his finishing improved massively as the season went on.
He scored loads of goals… and even smashed Haaland’s tally in a competition he didn’t know he was in.
A brilliant season, Albie.

Awards

Parents’ Player of the Year – Seb
The parents have voted, and they’ve chosen a lad who has been strong, consistent, and outstanding all season.
Well done, Seb — a brilliant choice.

Players’ Player of the Year – Albie
The boys have recognised a teammate who has helped them all year, on and off the pitch.
Well done, Albie — the respect of your teammates says everything.

Most Improved Player – Nathaniel
A kid who has shown huge progression, week after week, and is the definition of this award.
Well done, Nathaniel — fully deserved.

Coaches’ Player of the Year – Kye
This is always the hardest award to choose — we could genuinely pick every single one of them.
But this year, we’ve chosen a lad who wears his heart on his sleeve, is consistent every week, helps in attack, digs in defensively, and gives everything for the Strikers.
Well done, Kye — a brilliant season.

You’ve been a joy to coach. You’ve made us proud every single week. Keep working hard, keep enjoying your football, and keep being the brilliant teammates you are.

Parents, thank you for the lifts, the support, the encouragement, the sideline cheers, and the sideline nerves.

This is just the beginning.
Next season… we go again, stronger, better, and ready for more.
