Do you want to be a part of one of 2027’s biggest sporting events? 🚴‍♀️

Back in January, Leeds was confirmed to host the start of stage one of the Grand Départ of the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift on Friday 30 July 2027. And today organisers have launched a drive to recruit volunteers who will play a crucial role for when the world’s biggest women’s professional cycle race comes to the city next year.

Volunteers, known as JOY Makers, will receive training for a range of roles, including event operations support and spectator engagement. Applications are open to anyone aged 16 or over, with no previous volunteering experience required. Volunteers aged between 18 to 25 will also be eligible for a Readiness to Work scheme, which will provide employability skills training and career mentoring across multiple sectors.

For those sites with pools, the swim times for the August Bank Holiday are now available on the website and the app as they're part of the summer timetables.

‌Please be reminded there will be no Aquatics/Gymnastics/Tennis lessons on this date.

🏊‍♂️ Children Needed for STA Swim Teachers Award Course Practice - 50p LESSONS!

Morley Leisure Centre are excited to host the STA Swim Teachers Course, and we need swimmers to help our trainee instructors gain hands-on teaching experience!

To complete their practical training, candidates must deliver real lessons and that’s where your child can help! If your child fits one of the categories below, you can book them in for a fun, 50p swimming lesson.

Non-Swimmer/Stage 1: children aged 4+ that have never had lessons previously or in Stage 1. Teacher in the water, max 2 children per teacher
📅 Friday 21 August 13.30-14.00

Improver/Stage 3: children in stage 3 or that are water confident & working on swimming 10m front & back
📅 Monday 17 August 13.30-14.00, 14.00-14.30
📅 Friday 21 August 13.00-13.30
