Do you want to be a part of one of 2027โs biggest sporting events? ๐ดโโ๏ธ
Back in January, Leeds was confirmed to host the start of stage one of the Grand Dรฉpart of the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift on Friday 30 July 2027. And today organisers have launched a drive to recruit volunteers who will play a crucial role for when the worldโs biggest womenโs professional cycle race comes to the city next year.
Volunteers, known as JOY Makers, will receive training for a range of roles, including event operations support and spectator engagement. Applications are open to anyone aged 16 or over, with no previous volunteering experience required. Volunteers aged between 18 to 25 will also be eligible for a Readiness to Work scheme, which will provide employability skills training and career mentoring across multiple sectors.
Applications for Tour de France Grand Dรฉpart 2027 are now open until Tuesday 1 September. To find out more and apply, visit the link ๐ Leeds https://monkeylink.co/85c9d3

Active Leeds โ Exercising Safely in the Heat
Stay Active, Stay Safe โ๏ธ
With warmer weather expected, weโd like to remind all Active Leeds customers to take extra care when exercising in the heat.
To help you stay safe and enjoy your activity, please follow these simple precautions:
โ
Stay hydrated โ Drink water before, during and after exercise. Donโt wait until you feel thirsty, as this can be an early sign of dehydration.
โ
Exercise at cooler times of the day โ Where possible, choose early morning or evening sessions and avoid the hottest part of the day.
โ
Reduce intensity if needed โ High temperatures place additional stress on the body. Slow down, take regular breaks and listen to your body. Consider reducing the duration of your exercise session.
โ
Wear suitable clothing โ Lightweight, loose-fitting clothing can help keep you cool and comfortable.
โ
Watch for signs of heat-related illness โ Dizziness, headache, unusual fatigue, nausea, muscle cramps or excessive sweating can be signs of heat exhaustion. Stop exercising, move to a cool area and seek assistance if symptoms persist.
โ
Take extra care if you have a health condition โ Older adults, people with underlying health conditions and those taking certain medications may be more vulnerable to the effects of heat.
Your wellbeing is our priority. If you feel unwell at any point while exercising, please stop and speak to a member of the Active Leeds team.
Stay safe, stay hydrated and enjoy your activity. ๐
