Don’t know why I’m laughing, due to a bit of a c**k up booking two island lakes , and also only 21 names down for this Sundays Fox & Hounds annual match at woodlands, Craig has offered us partridge instead, luckily it’s available and also it’s fishing very well. I feel it’s a no brainer not to change the lake , it’s saving the club £70 , giving anglers loads of room. If members are disappointed at missing the island lakes Craig is willing to swap our next match at curlew and wagtail to islands if majority wants that. 🎣

Sundays match at Moor Monkton Pools Church lane Moor Monkton York yo26 8la was fished on both the Front and Cyprio Lakes.

A healthy turnout of 23 anglers competed for the Norman Clarkson Trophy 🏆 which was won by Ricky Hogg from Peg 56, the same peg he won from the last time we fished the lakes. He didn't quite hit the ton this time just falling short with 98lb 2oz to take the £85.00 1st prize.

Sections A, B and C were won by Jode Bywell on Peg 4 with 40lb 10oz, Steve Smith with 71lb 15oz from unfancied Peg 19 and Harry Sandham with 64lb 5oz from Front Pool Peg 67. They all picked up £45.00.

Section runners-up were Dave Fogarty from Peg 7 with 36lb 2oz, Mike Clarke with 59lb 6oz from Peg 12 and Bob Whitehead on Front Pool with 40lb 13oz from Peg 54 picking up £30.00 each.

Foggy on Peg 7 had a memorable day losing his rod in the lake after taking his hand off it for a moment. His replacement rod which had been repaired then broke when he hooked a fish. It was turning out to be one of those days.

It all turned out ok in the end as the boat was launched after the match and his rod which was sticking out of the lake was retrieved much to his relief. He still managed to win his section despite all the trauma so well done Dave.
Mike Clarke also had an eventful day snapping 2 of his top kits on angry fish but still managed to win his section as well..

Brafferton F1 Lake is the venue for this coming Sunday, please let me know if you will be attending.

The next points match is this Sunday at moor Monkton pools which marks the half way stage so just to let you all know I will be posting the table as it stands over the coming weeks.

The former Viking Fishery at Pollington, now called Kingfisher Ponds was the venue for Sunday's match. A lovely welcome awaited from the new lady owners Ali and Ellen, collectively known as Team Alan. They have put a lot of time and effort into improving the fishery, removing dead trees and cutting back where necessary and I'm sure they will make a great success of the venue.
The match itself was a windy affair for the 24 anglers.
Andy Faithwaite made the best of the conditions by fishing close in to take the honours with 85lb 3oz and £60.00 for his efforts.
Section winners picking up £35.00 each were Steve Smith 53lb 15oz, Terry Morgan 71lb 7oz, Mike Clarke 81lb 9oz and Anthony Carroll 66lb 15oz.
Section 2nds and £20.00 were Mick Barker, Chris Robbo, Chris Olley and the seal 🦭Ricky Hogg 🦭 who spent part of the match floating in the lake after taking a tumble...😂
The next match is not until the 9th August at Moor Monkton Pools Church lane Moor Monkton York yo26 8la for the Norman Clarkson Trophy 🏆

Just a quick reminder about the new match rules at Kingfisher Ponds (Viking) this weekend

60lb net limits - anything over 66lb record as 60lb

1 bag of groundbait per angler

4 pints of maggots maximum

2 standard tins of meat

Pellets and other bait in moderation

No throwing excess bait in the lake

Southfield Reservoir was the venue for Sunday's Anniversary Trophy 🏆
Lots of anglers targeted the little fish on the pole hoping the bream wouldn't show but a few always seem to turn up.
Mike Clarke managed to snare a few at 30 metres to annihilate the field to register an impressive 25lb 10oz to take the £80.00 winners prize.
The closest anyone could get was Derek Lee in the same section as Mike with 10lb 2oz who took the section win and £30.00.
Other section winners were Anthony Carroll and Keith Slater with 8lb 4oz and 6lb 5oz.
Section runners-up were Harry Sandham, Steve Smith and Peter Hyde who each picked up £20.00.
This coming Sundays match is at Kingfisher Ponds (the old Viking Fishery) on Hawk Lake.
I have 21 names down so far for this one.

Next match 24th May for the Chris Carroll Trophy at Brafferton.

Weather is looking like it's going to pick up later in the week so could be a warm one which would be a very welcome change after last match 🤣🤣.

A miserable day of persistent rain didn't put off 26 anglers who came to Sunrise Lakes at Spofforth to fish for the Dave Scott Trophy 🏆
It was fitting that the trophy went to one of the family with Mike Clarke winning the day from Peg 53 with 40lb 2oz.
Section A was won by worm man Ricky Hogg with 20lb 12oz, 2nd went to John Slater with 15lb from Peg 12.
The spoils were shared in Section B with Dave Fogarty and Peter Darfield both weighing 18lb.
Section C was won by Derek Lee from Dam Wall Peg 24 with 34lb 10oz and 2nd in section was John Wilkinson from Bridge Peg 17 with 29lb 3oz.
John Mcmillan won Section D with 18lb 1oz and Anthony Carroll was runner up with 16lb 14oz.
Well done to all those that braved the day.
Next match is at Brafferton on the Ghost Lake for the Chris Carroll Trophy 🏆 on the 24th May. I already have 20 names down for this one. Let me know at the meeting on Wednesday or drop me a line if you wish to fish this one.
