Legends Day 2026 ✨🏆

Once again, we had fantastic attendance from players and supporters who enjoyed plenty of good weather on Saturday when the two teams battled out a 1-1 draw in the 3rd annual match of Legends v Current teams at Colton Sports & Social Club.

🏆 Legends took the honours after a penalty shoot out when they scored their first 3 consecutive attempts from the spot without the Currents troubling the Legends net.

In an even game which was well officiated by Russell (who allowed some dodgy challenges to go unpunished & the game to flow), Legends took the lead on 13 minutes when Tom Whelan leapt salmon like to head home a Josh Naylor corner.

Currents equalised 8 minutes later when Oli Thorpe found the bottom corner with a rasping shot, following a delightful through ball from Dan Over, giving Chalky no chance. Both teams had further opportunities but couldn’t take them due to a combination of wayward shooting, solid defending and good goalkeeping from Chalky and Byrom.

Humongous thanks to Joe for buying the BBQ food which was expertly cooked by Welshy, Scott & Byrom who masterfully took on the chef duties. There were also suggestions that Potter helped, although there is no photographic evidence to confirm these 🍔👨🏻‍🍳

Following the BBQ, individual player awards for the 2025/26 season were presented and congratulations go to:-

Max McCormick and Reece Marshall (Players Player awards)

Charlie Hambleton and Luke Conway (Managers Player awards )

Chris Wayman and Jordan Byrom (Man of the Match awards)

Here’s to next year, when the Current squad will be out for revenge! 🦉💪

LEGENDS SQUAD ANNOUNCED 📝✨

The wait is over… here’s the squad that will be bringing the fight to the current squad, in this year’s Legends Match! 👏

There’s plenty of quality and experience dusting off their boots this year, making for a very strong squad 💪

A quick reminder of the plan for the day:

⚽ 2:00pm – Kick-off
🍔 3:30/4:00pm – BBQ
🏆 5:00pm – 2025/26 Presentation

Refreshments will be available throughout the day, and all members and guests are welcome to come down, watch the game, have a drink and enjoy the afternoon 🍻

It’s back! Join us on Saturday 18th July for the 3rd annual Legends Match, as our Current Squad take on the Colton Athletic Legends in what promises to be another brilliant afternoon of football, food and celebrations! 🧡🙌

The rivalry is perfectly poised…

2024: The Legends took the bragging rights.
2025: The Current Squad hit back to level the series.

🕑 2:00pm – Kick-off (70-minute match)
🍔 3:30/4:00pm – BBQ fired up after the players have had chance to shower & get changed
🏆 5:00pm – Men’s 2025/26 Season Presentation inside the clubhouse

Refreshments will be available in the club throughout the day 🍻🥤

All members are welcome, so come down, enjoy the sunshine and support the club! ☀️

💷 £5 per player to take part in the match.

This morning, the Yorkshire Amateur League divisions for the 2026/27 season were announced 📣

Our First Team will compete in Division One, while our Reserves will be playing in Division Five.
