Match Report vs Sharlston Rovers

Coach Amir:
Today saw us take on a strong Sharlston team in the blazing heat. With another good team talk and warm up the kids were ready for this game, my team consisted of Jacob B, Browny, Jordey, Joshua and Louie.
In each game we started with the ball which we worked well with, from some direct hard runs from Louie and Joshua, to their quick play, the balls left space for Jordey to use his step and hand off to his advantage, crashing over the line from short or far away. Jacob B using his show and go and hand off to get over the line a few times and Browny organising the team well with calling the moves and also using his quick feet and kicking skills.
In defence the kids worked hard in the heat to make sure that they kept Sharlston at bay with some great individual tackles to working well as a team in numbers to stop their attack, some great work throughout the team

Coach Chris:
Today we came up against a great team in Sharlston, and with the heat we knew we were in for a cracking morning of rugby, my team consisted of; Jed, Isaac, Roman, Tobias and Xander and from the word go we attacked and defended as a team. In attack Tobias, Jed and Xander showed their footwork causing problems for the opposition, with Isaac and Roman showing their strength bulldozing their way through the defence. In defence we worked well as a team and with Jed leading the way with some amazing try saving tackles I was very proud of my team in the way we played in this heat, winning 2 games out of 3 👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Coach Jacko:
Today we faced Sharlston at home in the heat! My team included; Laurie, Heidi, Edward, Jacob N, Caleb and Malaki, with one focus to not concede and that is exactly what we did, 10 tries scored and none conceded, especially with less numbers than the opposition every game is a great achievement! Each player played their part with Laurie and Caleb dominating defence and the rest making easy yards to get over the white wash some pride in the team today, undefeated and an all round enjoyable morning of Rugby League!

A special mention and thank you to Sam Burgess for handing out the awards today!

Match Report vs Lock Lane ARLFC U9’s

Coach Amir:
Today saw the squad take the short journey over to Cas Lock Lane. This was our 1st challenge against them. We started with a team chat with what we wanted from the kids today and boy they didn’t let us down at all. With some great rugby from the start, Hunslet dug deep in every game to see them through. With less players than them, the kids worked hard with all the 1% efforts in the defensive line, to the attacking with support play. The forwards Roman, Malakai and Jacob worked tirelessly to get the ball upfield allowing space for Jacob Theo and Tobias to use their pace and quick feet making it hard work for their defence to cope with. The 3 coaches are really proud of what all the kids did today, what a great weekend to be in the Hunslet colours.

Coach Chris:
Today's game saw us take on a spirited Lock Lane team, with the opposition having 20+ players to our 15, we decided to test our players by sticking with 5 in each team, my team consisted of Jed, Caleb, Jordey, Edward and Josh we spoke on how defence would win us the game and boy was this proven our line speed and work rate was the best I've seen with only 3 tries conceded over the three matches against 7-8 players each game, take a bow! In attack Caleb took control and moved the team around the pitch amazingly with Edward, Josh and Caleb showing strength and pace throughout with Jordey and Jed showing their footwork and strength, what I was also impressed with was the passing and support play, even the opposition coaches were impressed with the tries we scored from them. Without doubt the best performance from my team AMAZING 💙💛💙🔥

Coach Jamie:
Today I had the pleasure of stepping in for Jacko, and what a performance it was from the five players we had available; Heidi, Laurie, Xander, Louie and Browny.
We knew it was going to be a tough game, especially recognising a few familiar faces in the opposition, but the team took on the challenge from the very first whistle.
We started with blistering pace in attack. Laurie and Browny really dominated their roles, making great decisions and causing the opposition all sorts of problems. They both backed themselves, with a few brilliant length of the field tries that had everyone cheering.
From the back, Heidi and Louie were absolute juggernauts, carrying the ball with real intent. Their barnstorming runs through the middle and down the edges constantly put us on the front foot and gave the team plenty of momentum.
Xander really stood out for me today. His bravery with the ball was outstanding, often taking two carries in a single set, and then backing that up with some superb defensive efforts. His work rate and commitment were first class.
Defensively, we had to work incredibly hard. With only five players against their seven on a big pitch, it was always going to be a tough ask. But every single one of them stepped up to everything I asked. They were relentless in attack and absolutely dogged in defence. Laurie put in some huge tackles, while Louie, Heidi and Xander swept everything up through the middle. On the edge, Browny mopped up anything that came his way with confidence and determination.
All in all, it was a superb performance from a fantastic group of kids. Their effort, attitude and teamwork were outstanding from start to finish, and they should all be incredibly proud of themselves.
It was an absolute pleasure to coach them today. Well done all 💙💛🤎🤍
