At UAL we are proud to be part of SportCheer Englands membership and cannot wait to see the growth of the sport and the opportunities that now await for cheerleaders all around the country!

‘We are incredibly proud to share that Sport England has formally recognised SportCheer England as the National Governing Body (NGB) for cheerleading in England!

Many of you will know that last year, following several years of collaboration by the Home Nations working collectively as SportCheer UK, cheerleading achieved formal recognition as a sport by the Sport Councils. That was a landmark achievement for our sport, but it was only one piece of the puzzle. Without a recognised National Governing Body in England, many of the opportunities available to established sports simply weren’t possible.

Today, SportCheer England has achieved the next milestone in that journey by becoming Sport England’s recognised National Governing Body for cheerleading in England.
For the first time, cheerleading in England is both a recognised sport and represented by a formally recognised National Governing Body. It is a landmark moment that places our sport on an equal footing with other recognised sports in England and creates a stronger foundation for its future.

This recognition belongs to the whole cheerleading community. It reflects years of commitment from clubs, coaches, athletes, officials and volunteers who have continued to believe in the future of our sport. As members of SportCheer England, you’ve played an important part in that journey, and we wanted you to hear this news before anyone else.’
