Traditional Karate - we cover everything Okinawan Karate should - Strikes, throws, ground work, grappling, weapons, locks & holds etc.

With training comes discipline, fitness, confidence, less stress, better concentration, self defence & community.

Isobel picked up the first section of our Seipai flow drill pretty quickly tonight!

After using the first movement to stop a grab landing, we use the second to initiate a Thai style grapple and attempt a neck crank throw - if that fails - the rest flows on.

More work to do with the use of stances to improve position but it’s a pretty good start!

Working on Bunkai (application of Kata) this week. Classes are still peaceful as everyone settles into the new school year.

Yesterday was very much “figure it out yourselves”. We started with Gekasai then Saifa, Seunchin and finally Saizan. Students asked to select a piece of the kata, figure out (or remember) the Bunkai and then show us what you know. We then made improvements and developed understanding.

Was a very impressive effort all round.

We will continue this through Thursday with Bunkai and a flow drill for kata Saipai.

Kata practice before tonight’s classes. Something I need to do more of!

****Class time Reminder****

Quick reminder of our class times over the summer.

I’m currently on annual leave in Spain. Dave has kindly agreed to keep some classes open while we are away.

🥋Our summer classes are:
Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 6:00 to 7:30
And
Saturday 10:00 to 11:30

While we have been away, Dave has opted to keep Tuesday and Thursday classes open.

So;
🥋Tuesday and Thursday classes - 6:00 to 7:30 have run and will continue to run until we return.

❗️‼️Except: Thursday 20th as both Dave and I are away that same day! ‼️❗️

We will get back to normal classes at the start of September. I’ll send a reminder nearer the time.

****ADULT ONLY CLASS****

That’s right folks - time to get into the detail!

Adults only classes will be running between 9:00 and 10:00 am every Saturday followed by our open class between 10:00 and 11:30.

These will kick off from September 5th.

If we have plenty of interest and it seems like the right thing to do, we may extend this class to 90mins - but we will cross that bridge when we get to it.

This is strictly 18+ and classes will be £5 each. This will help fund additional equipment, weapons and Dojo improvements (like new bathrooms😳).

This is open to both existing students and new adults who may wish to train with us.

Get the ⏰ set, get out of bed, and hit the mats!

09/08/2026

We have had some spaces open up at classes through the week. If you have been considering coming along, we reopen from August 21st, and it’s perfect timing.

Mondays and Tuesdays;
5:30 to 6:30 - Juniors (age 5+)
6:30 to 8:00 - Open classes (adults and families)

Thursdays;
5:30 to 6:30 - Sports Karate
6:30 to 8:00 - Advanced class (Currently Full)

Saturdays;
10:00 to 11:30 Open classes (adults and families - mostly adults)

COMING SOON - Adults only class (Details to follow)

Never thrown a punch - that’s fine, most people haven’t. Trained before? No problem, we’re probably very different, you just have to decide if we’re for you or not! Can’t hurt to find out!

Training once a week? That’s only £29 a month.
Training more? Do as many classes as you like for £50 a month - choice is yours. Open all year (except two weeks in the summer and two weeks at Christmas).

First class is free, you’re not tied in, we’re not monsters, everyone makes mistakes, we have fun, we socialise and we treat everyone with respect - regardless of age.

Come along and say Hi!
