Did you know Swillington Village Council installed and maintains three community defibrillators?

They are located at:
📍 Swillington Village Hall
📍 Swillington Sports & Social Club
📍 *NEW* Swillington Common (old telephone kiosk on Selby Road)

Knowing where your nearest defibrillator is and how to access it could make all the difference in an emergency. All of our defibrillators are accessible at any time by contacting emergency services.

On Saturday 5 September, we're hosting a free community session in partnership with the Yorkshire Ambulance Service Charity where you'll learn how to recognise a cardiac arrest, how to access a public defibrillator and how to use it with confidence. It's a relaxed, practical session and no previous experience is needed.

We hope you'll join us and leave feeling more confident that, should the worst happen, you'll know what to do.

If you would like to do so, please register your attendance Defibrillator Training so we can manage our expected attendance numbers.

💛🖤🥳 ITS OUR GALA DAY 🥳💛🖤

Our months of planning, many hours of hard work, a few tears, things going wrong, many things going right and lots of laughs along the way and it’s finally here… our 5th Annual Gala and it’s bigger and better!

We have over 500 kids with 54 teams playing throughout the day.

🏉 Under 6s - 6 clubs with 8 teams playing
🏉 Under 7s - 8 clubs with 12 teams playing
🏉 Under 8s - 8 clubs with 12 teams playing
🏉 Under 9s - 9 clubs with 10 teams playing
🏉 Under 10s - 11 clubs with 12 teams playing

Thank you to everyone who’s coming back again or coming for the first time.

Gates open at 8:30am and games kick off at 10am. Games due to finish between 2-3pm with the presentations immediately afterwards.

We couldn’t do this without everyone’s support - we are very thankful for everyone who’s played a part to make this day happen - THANK YOU!!! 🫶

💛🖤🏉 U10’S PLAY AT HALF TIME - LEEDS RHINOS VS BRADFORD BULLS 🏉💛🖤

On Sunday our Swillington ARLFC U10s travelled to Headingley to play at half time as part of the Leeds Rhinos vs Bradford Bulls match activities 🏟💙💛🦏🏉🐮❤️🖤

And what an amazing experience it was, playing infront of a crowd of over 16,000 rugby fans!

The kids played brilliantly and showed what we are capable of, with strong runs, silky footwork, big defence, great offloads and tries aplenty. They made the coaches and parents / family / friends watching on all very proud.

Huge well done to them all. What wonderful memories for the kids, who were all buzzing after 👏🏻 ☺️

Great to watch the Rhinos with a big win over the Bulls too - "We're top o'the league!" 🦏💛💙

Big thanks to Leeds Rhinos Foundation team for arranging it and help making it happen, and also shout out to the kids, at both Queensbury and Stanningley clubs, that we played against for some great games of rugby.

Next up, it's our gala on Saturday! Can't wait for it 🤩

💛🖤🏉 JUST ONE WEEK TO GO 🏉💛🖤

Next Saturday we will be hosting our 5th annual rugby gala at Swillington and we can’t wait for it!

There will be 56 teams playing across Under 6s, 7s, 8s, 9s and 10s age groups - approximately 550 kids taking part! And little giants training at 12 noon.

Gates will be open from 8:30am for car parking on site and games kick off at 10am and finish around 2:30pm for the presentation.

There will be lots of things to keep everyone entertained throughout the day too - and lots of food and drinks available to keep everyone fed and watered!

We can’t wait to see you all next week for an amazing day 👏

💛🖤🐯 CAS TIGERS TAKEOVER 🐯💛🖤

BIG THANK YOU to Castleford Tigers Foundation & Castleford Tigers for coming down last night to takeover our 9s and 10s training session and deliver a fun tackle based session for the kids 👏👏👏

See you on Sunday when our 7s and 10s head down to the take part in the pre-match festival!

💛🖤🏉 U10s v Kippax 🏉💛🖤

Swillington travelled to our local neighbours, Kippax, for what was a much anticipated game following the league rejig of fixtures.

Another scorcher of a day was expected and the kids were all looking forward to running the ball in against some familiar faces and to enjoy a great morning of rugby at Welfare.

Kippax had plenty of players - enough to have 2 teams, whereas Swillington only had enough for 1 plus subs. So we agreed 2 x 20min games with a full team swap for Kippax for the 2nd game, but included plenty of water breaks.

From the start Swillington had to work hard in defence to try hold back some strong Kippax attacks. It was great to see the effort, and we made it difficult to break the line, but we couldn't stop them all and Kippax started to be rewarded for their strong direct runs.

With a fresh set of legs on, Swillington had to up it again - and they never stopped. Making some great strong runs and trying to break through their defence. It was great to see.

Again we saw some strong individual performances with players recognised for running with purpose and support play.

The kids did amazing and it was a brilliant effort from all the players given the conditions and the coaches were proud of their work rate.

Thanks to coaches Andy and James and the rest of Kippax coaching team (pleasure as always), and all the players for some great games of rugby and as always played in the right spirit of the game.

Well done to all the kids who played - and a BIG shout out to all our certificate winners who were recognised for their performances on the pitch. We look forward to welcoming Kippax back to our gala later in the summer.

Although that ended up being our last league game before the summer break, we still have an exciting couple of weeks ahead.

Castleford Tigers Foundation will be taking the training session tonight, focusing on tackling. Then we are at The Onebore Stadium for Castleford Tigers v Leeds this weekend.

Next weekend we are at Headingley for Leeds Rhinos v Bradford Bulls RLFC. We also have our annual gala 1st August - which will be even bigger than last year, and we finish the summer with Zakfest at King Cross Park RLFC.
