Leeds Locos Baseball Club

This Sunday, our two teams take on their final games of the main season, both fighting for a place in the playoffs!

Come watch us live at home vs the Newcastle Nighthawks, where a sweep could see Leeds steal the final playoff position in Division 3 North.

Meanwhile, the Locos 2 travel to Durham. Leeds need to better the Sheffield Bladerunner’s result by 1 win to clinch the final spot in the playoff Quarter Finals.

Last Sunday made a close playoff race even closer! In our Locos 2’s penultimate matchup of the regular season, we travelled to Sheffield to take on the Kodiaks.

In game 1, excellent pitching all round made individual brilliance stand out. Nolan excelled on both sides of the game, with a base-clearing triple, and strong defence at Shortstop.

In game 2, Alastair’s pitching kept the Locos ahead for the first 3 innings, and also got some clutch hits to top off his great day.

Tomorrow, the Locos 2 travel to Sheffield to take on the Kodiaks in our pursuit of a place in the playoffs!

Sunday 19th was another fantastic day of baseball for the Locos.

The Div 3 team travelled to Sheffield and split the series with the Bladerunners. In game 1, Gary got on base every AB in a 4-4 game (+1 BB) to help squeeze out a tightly contested win. And in game 2, David got 3 RBIs as the Locos tried to keep pace with the Blades.

For the Locos 2, we went up against 1st place in the division, Durham Spartans, and managed to defeat them in two incredible games of baseball. Both teams showed the spirit of amateur sports at every moment, with a brilliant atmosphere and respect all round. Coach Bryan couldn’t decide on MVPs, so I’ll quote him instead:
“This was a team effort, and one you should all be proud of. Every play mattered, every player mattered… We battled, and we won.”

Massive props to Durham for such a great two games!

Another action packed Sunday for the Locos!

Meanwhile, the Locos 2 host a mighty Durham team who sit top of the division. Two wins here would also mean a good shot at playoffs! Come on down to Wharfemeadows to cheer us on!!

Just the one fixture this week - Leeds Locos 1 will host Bootle in what’s sure to be a thriller.

Last week’s action brought a full sweep for both Locos teams in an excellent Sunday of baseball.

The Division 3 side travelled up to go against Wragby, where Andy Dean put up 4 innings of 1-run ball in game 1, getting a pair of hits on offence too. The second game was a closer affair, but Peter went 4 for 4 with 6 RBIs - “industry of producing runs”, Captain Conrado.

The Locos 2 hosted Manchester, with both teams showing how much they’d improved since their week 5 matchup. We said farewell to the iconic Justin Wright as he pitched his final game for the club, driving in the winning run in the first game to top it all off. Ryan went 3-3 in game 2 with 5 RBIs, with all of those hits splitting the gap into left field.
