Good luck to our incredible Vets team as they head to Holbeck Moor tomorrow to take on Stanningley in the Clegg Cup Final! 🏆

This is the one we’ve all been waiting for, and we are looking for a massive replay of last year’s unforgettable win when we had a completely full house. 🙌🙌🙌

Do get down there and cheer the lads on to another historic win! 🙏🙏🙏

Bring it home, gents!

A trim this morning for our bottom green as we prepare to start our winter bowling.

The water pressure for this green is just inadequate so we could do with a helping hand up there please!! 🙏🙏

David, Kevin and Peter have been working hard on the gutters and a fantastic job they are doing!

A LITTLE BIT OF EXTRA TLC

Expensive machinery not always needed....🤞

In fact some areas needed just that bit more work and we felt best to do those individually just like the edges.

Bloody hard work manually though 😩
Reinforcements needed on the hand tool as well as it was a tad overworked!!
Bit bent now 😅

Hopefully reap the rewards next year 🙏🙏

For those interested Laura and Shane had been manual removing areas that still had signs of moss or struggling with growth and added a second lot of overseeding and light dress and water. They also prayed they'd not be eaten by pigeons!!

OVER 55s Tuesday vets.

THE RESULTS ARE ALL IN.

Congratulations to Stanningley Park Crown Green Bowling Club on their victory for the Leeds over 55s league. 👏👏👏👏

All our games finished last week so we had been eagerly waiting their last fixture to see if they could achieve enough points and they did!!

For years it has been a battle between Harehills and Stanningley and in recent years Savile Park giving us both a run for us money!!

Last year our vets achieved the double winning both the league and cup and we take on Stanningley next Tuesday again in the Clegg Cup Final over at Holbeck Moor!

Do get across if you can to support - our vets will be hoping to retain the cup for another year 🙏🙏🙏

Once again , well done Stanningley 👏👏👏👏

Well the bulk of end of season renovations comes to an end. All we was missing was a bit of rain that mother nature promised us but never came!

Few areas to keep at manually now to keep improving over the next month or so while temps are still ok 🙏 focus on moisture and the bottom green preparations.

These hose sprinklers are actually quite brilliant for targeting the edges of the green but used them also for a rough patch today too! Cheap and cheerful from Temu. Probably won't last long the way they've been dragged all over the green today but effective! Will be buying more! Perfect for not flooding delicate seeds!

THIRD TIME LUCKY??
The last couple of years we have had great success growing grass on these areas, the issue being it never survived! It has reduced over the years but not as much as we would have hoped.
😔

Extreme compaction, steep slope so nutrients running off being a big cause plus the stepping on the green.

Learning as we go this year hope to have given it a better chance🙏

We've drilled holes, refilled, spiked some more, sorrel rolled, fed with Humigranule and hopefully will see an improvement!

Shane put a barrier to prevent people walking on it last year so that all helps too.

Watch this space 🤗

Some more time spent on the bottom green over the weekend and today!

Edges trimmed
All four side cut
Verticut
Spiked
Cut again today.

Some fantastic support today from some youngsters helping clear the ramp and stairs of leaves and Peter and Kev have been working on the gutters/boards 🙏

Top dress the top green this evening while the weather is good!

Team work makes the dream work!

Swillington Bowling Club – Four‑Time Champions of the Barkston Ash League and Still Showing Off!! 😀

The Swilly Boys have only gone and done it again — four titles on the bounce! 🙌🙌🙌

At this point it’s less a winning streak and more a hostage situation where they’ve refused to let anyone else near the trophy!!

They bowl well, they laugh plenty, and somehow they keep finding new ways to ruin everyone else’s Saturday😅

Cracking bunch of lads… annoyingly good, but cracking.

Well bowled lads 👏👏👏👏
