This morning, I’m reminded how important it is to step away from the noise.
To wake up somewhere different.
To look out at the sea.
To have a slower morning.
To simply be.
As a counsellor, I spend a lot of time holding space for other people — listening, supporting, thinking, reflecting and being present with whatever they bring.
But I also need to remember that I’m a person first.
I need rest.
I need quiet.
I need moments where I’m not doing, fixing or planning.
Being away has given me space to breathe and reconnect with myself. And I’m reminded that looking after ourselves isn’t something we earn once everything else is done.
It is part of the work.
Sometimes stepping away allows us to come back to ourselves.
And perhaps that’s what this morning is for me — no big revelations, no pressure to achieve anything.
Just the sea, the fresh air, a slower pace… and a quiet reminder to enjoy where I am.
What does slowing down look like for you today? 🌊

🌿 A little something new from me…
Alongside my counselling work, I’ve been creating gentle wellbeing resources designed to support reflection, self-care, self-worth and those little moments when you need to pause and reset.
I’ve now opened my Etsy shop, Wellbeing by Toni 💛
You’ll find a growing collection of digital resources, journals, planners and wellbeing tools — created with the same compassionate, non-judgemental approach that sits at the heart of my counselling work.
If you’d like to have a look, you can find my Etsy shop here:

Are you holding your breath right now?
I’ve noticed myself doing this more lately — when I’m concentrating, overwhelmed, stressed or simply trying to get too much done.
As a counsellor, I talk about regulation all the time… but I’m still working on it too.
Our breathing, stress, nervous system and interoception are all connected, and this can be particularly interesting for neurodivergent people.
My latest blog explores why we hold our breath and some simple ways to notice, pause and breathe.
Sometimes self-care isn't adding another thing to our list.
Sometimes it's simply remembering to breathe.

Object Impermanence in ADHD
05/08/2026
Look what I’ve been up to… ✨
Over the past week I’ve given myself permission to let my inner child play.
As counsellors, we often encourage clients to explore creativity, but it’s just as important that we practise what we preach. For me, creating isn’t just a hobby—it’s self-care.
My ADHD brain is full of ideas (usually 101 all at once! 🤯), and I don’t always give myself the time to bring them to life. This week, I did.
I’ve been creating new therapeutic resources for my counselling room:
🩷 Values hearts to explore what matters most.
🟠 Stress balls to help visualise the weight we carry.
🫙 Stress jars to represent different levels of overwhelm.
💚 A values box for moments of reflection and self-discovery.
These aren’t just activities—they’re invitations to have conversations that can sometimes be difficult to put into words.
Creativity can help us slow down, connect with ourselves, process emotions, and make therapy feel a little less intimidating.
Sometimes healing doesn’t begin with talking.
Sometimes it begins with picking up a coloured ball, choosing a heart, or allowing yourself to simply play.
What does creativity look like for you? 💚

💙 Can our amazing community help make a difference? 💙
I wanted to share something really close to my heart.
Before I started Unmasked, when I was working at Aspire, I regularly attended this organisation and saw first-hand the incredible work they do to support adults with learning difficulties.
It truly is an amazing organisation that creates opportunities, builds confidence, and makes a real difference in people’s lives. The support they provide is invaluable, and the impact reaches far beyond what many people see.
If you are able to donate, even just £1, it would make such a huge difference. Small donations really do add up, and together we can help ensure this vital support continues.
Please consider donating if you can, and even if you’re unable to donate, sharing this post could help it reach someone who can. 💙
Thank you for helping support such an important cause.

Everyone seems to be talking about ADHD right now.
The diagnosis rates.
The waiting lists.
The medication.
But what if we're missing the most important part of the conversation?
The people behind the statistics.
My latest blog explores ADHD, invisible disabilities, late diagnosis, grief, and why understanding yourself is often just the beginning of the journey.
