Today we’re celebrating another wonderful member of our Jaykays family, Chloe.

Chloe has been a fantastic part of Jaykays, bringing fun, laughter and plenty of personality to every class. Alongside her playful nature, she’s shown incredible commitment to her dance training over the years – in fact, she even chose to spend her 18th birthday in the studio with us!

A talented and versatile performer, Chloe has created so many wonderful memories at Jaykays including her brilliant portrayal of Miss Hannigan in last year’s Musical Theatre production. She has also developed a real love for pointe work, and her weekly pointe class with Connor has become one of her favourite parts of her dance training.

This September, Chloe will begin an exciting new chapter as she starts a degree in Creative Writing. With her wonderful imagination, creativity and love of storytelling, we know she’ll embrace this next adventure with the same enthusiasm and dedication she’s always shown at Jaykays.

Thank you, Chloe, for all the energy, commitment and smiles you’ve brought to the Jaykays family. We are so proud of everything you’ve achieved and can’t wait to see where your creativity takes you next.

Wishing you every success for the future. Once a Jaykays dancer, always a Jaykays dancer. 💜

🌟 JAYKAYS STUDENT PETRA CAST AS MATILDA IN UK & IRELAND TOUR 🌟

We’ve been bursting to share this news for months... and keeping it under our hats has been so difficult! 🤐

Now that the announcement is finally official, we are absolutely thrilled to celebrate some incredible news...

Our very own Maggot, Petra, has been cast as one of just five young performers sharing the title role of Matilda in the UK & Ireland tour of Matilda the Musical! 🎭

After auditioning back in January and progressing through multiple rounds of auditions, Petra was selected from thousands of children to take on this iconic role.

The show opened at the Birmingham Hippodrome last week, where it will run until 2nd August, before continuing its UK & Ireland tour. From there, it heads to Norwich Theatre until 6th September, followed by Dublin, Milton Keynes, Glasgow, and finishing its tour in Cardiff.

Away from the stage, Petra will be balancing life on tour with starting secondary school and returning to Jaykays whenever she’s home. She is a dedicated all-round performer, training in Ballet, Tap, Contemporary Modern Jazz, Musical Theatre and Acro, and is also a valued member of our Associate Dance Teams.

Petra’s mum, Althea (Althea Hutchings), shared that the audition journey taught their whole family the importance of patience and resilience. Throughout the process, Petra embraced every opportunity, loved every moment and is now incredibly excited to step onto the stage in this dream role.

Petra, we couldn’t be prouder of everything you’ve achieved. Your hard work, dedication and determination have been rewarded in the most incredible way, and we can’t wait to follow your journey over the coming months.

✨ If you’d like to see our Petra perform as Matilda at the Birmingham Hippodrome, these are her scheduled performances:

Some dancers join us at the very beginning of their journey, while others arrive with a dream already in sight. Today we’re celebrating the incredible journey of our wonderful senior student, Phoebe.

Phoebe joined the Jaykays family at the age of 12 with an incredible singing voice and one clear goal – to develop her dance training. Over the years, she has done exactly that, throwing herself into every class with determination, commitment and an outstanding work ethic.

Always conscientious and eager to learn, Phoebe has consistently challenged herself to improve, embracing every opportunity to grow as a performer. Watching her confidence, technique and versatility develop has been an absolute pleasure, and we couldn’t be prouder of everything she has achieved.

For the past two years, Phoebe has been studying a BTEC in Musical Theatre at BOA () continuing to build on her training and passion for performing.

This September, Phoebe will take the next exciting step in her journey as she begins a degree in Musical Theatre at the Guildford School of Acting ()… one of the UK’s most prestigious conservatoires for performing arts training. Securing a place on such a highly respected degree course is an incredible achievement and a testament to the dedication, resilience and outstanding work ethic she has shown throughout her time at Jaykays.

Phoebe, thank you for being such a valued part of the Jaykays family. We know you have an incredibly exciting future ahead of you, and we can’t wait to see where your talent and determination take you next.

Congratulations and the very best of luck. Once a Jaykays dancer, always a Jaykays dancer. 💜

Today we’re celebrating the incredible journey of our wonderful senior student, Rosie. ✨

For the past 16 years, Rosie has been a valued member of the Jaykays family. Her commitment, conscientious nature and unwavering dedication have been evident from day one, and it’s been a privilege to watch her grow into such a kind, capable and inspiring young woman.

Rosie has always been someone we can rely on. Super organised and always willing to lend a helping hand, she’s been a fantastic support at Jaykays events and has become a wonderful role model for our younger dancers.

Over the past two years, Rosie has been studying BTEC Dance at BOA while also returning to where it all began, working as one of our Student Teachers in the Little Rascals classes. Seeing Rosie inspire the next generation of dancers has been incredibly special and a real full-circle moment for everyone at Jaykays.

As she now begins the next exciting chapter, Rosie will be studying Primary Education, with the hope of combining her love of teaching with the dance knowledge, skills and experience she’s gained throughout her years at Jaykays and through her BTEC Dance studies. We have no doubt she’ll make a wonderful teacher and inspire many more young people in the years to come.

Thank you, Rosie, for your kindness, dedication and the positive impact you’ve had on our dance family over the last 16 years. We are so proud of everything you’ve achieved and can’t wait to see where your journey takes you next.

Wishing you every success for the future. Once a Jaykays dancer, always a Jaykays dancer. 💜

Meet Miss Sam, the heart of our Little Rascals classes and the person who helps make every child’s first dance experience a happy one. ☺️

As a mum to Maisie, Tilly and Noah, Miss Sam understands just how important those first classes can be… not only for children, but for parents too. She knows that every child develops at their own pace, and that building confidence always comes before perfect dance steps.

Miss Sam has years of experience working with young children, and fun fact… Miss Jay first met her almost 20 years ago when Sam was working as a nursery practitioner at one of the nurseries Jaykays was working with! Even then, her warm, caring nature and passion for helping children shone through.

Today, as well as leading our Little Rascals classes, many of our Jaykays families will recognise Miss Sam as one of our wonderful parent volunteers. Whether she’s helping backstage, supporting at events or lending a hand wherever it’s needed, she’s always happy to be part of the Jaykays family.

In class, Miss Sam creates a warm, nurturing environment where little dancers feel safe, supported and excited to learn. Whether it’s helping a child settle on their very first day, celebrating a new skill, or simply sharing lots of smiles and laughter along the way, she makes every class a positive experience.

Every Little Rascals session is also supported by one of our wonderful student teachers, ensuring every child receives plenty of individual encouragement, guidance and care.

For children aged 2–4 years, Little Rascals is where confidence, friendships and a lifelong love of dance begin.

Today we’re celebrating another wonderful member of our Jaykays family, Isobella.

Throughout her time at Jaykays, Isobella has been a brilliant example of how dedication, perseverance and quiet determination can achieve amazing things. She’s always worked incredibly hard in class, giving her best every lesson, and it’s been a pleasure to watch her confidence blossom over the years.

One of the loveliest parts of Isobella’s journey is seeing it continue through her family, with her younger cousins now dancing at Jaykays too. It’s a wonderful reminder of the friendships, memories and love for dance that can be passed from one generation to the next.

As Isobella now takes the exciting next step into a Hairdressing Apprenticeship, we know she’ll bring the same commitment, care and creativity that she’s always shown in the studio.

Thank you, Isobella, for being such a valued part of the Jaykays family. We are so proud of everything you’ve achieved and can’t wait to see where this new adventure takes you.

Wishing you every success for the future. Once a Jaykays dancer, always a Jaykays dancer. 🫶🏽

On Saturday, our Little Rascals took to the stage for their very first dance show, Under the Sea... and what a magical day it was! 🐠🩵

At just 2–4 years old, these incredible little dancers performed confidently in front of a live audience, complete with stage lighting, music and all the excitement of a real theatre experience. It takes so much courage to step onto a stage at such a young age, and every single one of them made us incredibly proud.

At Jaykays, our Little Rascals motto is “Great things come from small beginnings”… and Saturday was the perfect reminder of exactly what that means.

Over the past few weeks we’ve been celebrating our wonderful senior students as they begin exciting new adventures beyond Jaykays. And now, as one chapter closes, another begins.

Watching these tiny performers take their very first steps onto the stage was a beautiful reminder that every dancer starts somewhere.

Who knows... perhaps in 15 or 16 years’ time, we’ll be writing one of our heartfelt farewell posts about one of these very Little Rascals as they head off to university, drama school or follow their dreams.

For now though, we’ll simply enjoy watching them grow in confidence, make lifelong friendships and discover a love of dance… one little step at a time.

Well done, Little Rascals. Great things really do come from small beginnings. 🩷🩰🐚

Every Jaykays dancer leaves their own unique mark, and today we’re celebrating our wonderful senior student, Amelie.

Amelie has been a much-loved part of the Jaykays family for many years, and her warmth, quick wit and brilliant sense of humour have brought so much joy to everyone around her. Jaykays has always meant a great deal to Amelie, and it’s been a privilege to watch her grow into the talented, creative and kind young woman she is today.

Whether she was lighting up the stage through Musical Theatre, bringing characters to life with her fantastic acting, or representing Jaykays at competitions, it was always a joy to watch Amelie perform.

Dance isn't the only way Amelie has been part of the Jaykays story. As the daughter of our wonderful official photographer, Nadine, she's often been found behind the camera too, helping to capture the special moments that make our dance family so unique.

Thank you, Amelie, for your laughter, your friendship, your creativity and for being such a special part of the Jaykays family. We know you’ll embrace every opportunity that comes your way, and we can’t wait to see everything you achieve.

Good luck with your gap year and the exciting future ahead. Once a Jaykays dancer, always a Jaykays dancer.
