How long have you been playing lawn bowls, and what inspired you to start?
I started at Raploch in 1984 when Jim Steele was president.
Jim was my good friend Phil's
father in law.
He convinced me to give it a go.
What has been your most memorable singles match or tournament win so far?
My first championship win in 2015 is the most memorable.
Do you prefer a longer or shorter jack length when you have the mat?
I prefer a 3/4 length jack
Do you lean more toward playing a consistent draw shot, or are you comfortable playing an aggressive drive when needed?
Prefer to play draw shots.
I'm not do good at drive shots since becoming a pensioner
Do you prefer your forehand or backhand when the green is running fast?
I try both hands at the start of the game than tend to stick to the hand I find most favourable.
How do you handle pressure or a tight score line near the end of a 21-point singles match?
What is your routine to reset mentally after a loose bowl or a missed shot?
When playing I just try to do my best.
I seem to control my nerves quite well.
If you could play a game of bowls against any historical figure or professional bowler, who would it be?
Tattie Marshall comes to mind.
If you had to describe the sport of lawn bowls to a complete beginner in one sentence, what would you say?
Bowls is a great game to play.
You meet some great characters throughout the years.
Lastly do you think you will be Champion for 2026?
Winning on Saturday would be great.
I'll do my best but I'm really looking forward to playing Russell, a terrific bowler.

On the run up to finals day lets get to know our Championship contenders for 2026 and first up is one of our ladies who is currently on fire having won 2 finals already Lynne Catney
How long have you been playing lawn bowls, and what inspired you to start?
I've been playing for 4 years , My husband has played for 30+ years , he inspired me to start.
What has been your most memorable singles match or tournament win so far?
Winning the Ladies presidents tie this year also playing in the Scottish mixed pairs.
Do you prefer a longer or shorter jack length when you have the mat?
I prefer a longer jack.
Do you lean more toward playing a consistent draw shot, or are you comfortable playing an aggressive drive when needed?
I prefer the draw but can drive when needed.
Do you prefer your forehand or backhand when the green is running fast?
Back hand.
How do you handle pressure or a tight score line near the end of a 21-point singles match?
Deep breath and focus.
What is your routine to reset mentally after a loose bowl or a missed shot?
Concentrate on the next bowl , don't dwell on something you can't change.
If you could play a game of bowls against any historical figure or professional bowler, who would it be?
No one in particular.
If you had to describe the sport of lawn bowls to a complete beginner in one sentence, what would you say?
Lawn bowls is one of the hardest but most addictive game you'll play.
Lastly do you think you will be Champion for 2026?
I will certainly give it my best shot š¤£
