OPTIMIST NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS 2026 AT LARGS SC - OPENING CEREMONY
Some great photos from our young member Aiden Alderson of the opening parade and ceremony. Aiden's photos really capture the spirit of the event, and the parade, which was led by piper Harris Park.

OPTIMIST NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS 2026 - DAY 4
Sunshine - and a good W-NW wind! The main fleet went north, racing off Largs town, so largely out of this photographer's view, but the regatta fleet were enjoying their racing off the marina.
Final day tomorrow!

SUMMER NEWSLETTER
Full reports on an amazing start to the main part of our season, with the Largs Chandlers One Design dinghy regatta in May, then the magnificent Fife Yachts Regatta and the Richard Mille Cup in early June – followed immediately by the International 14 National Championships!!
We now have the imminent Optimist Nationals over the first week in August, then Largs Regatta Festival later in August.
We couldn’t host these events without our army of superb volunteers – thankyou one and all.
Many congratulations to our young sailors retaining the Scottish schools Brown Cup for the third year, and wider awards for their excellence, plus updates on our very popular sail training programmes, plus the current youth sailing weeks. (Note - still a couple of places available w/c 10th August - see https://www.largssailtraining.org/. Also October half term week.)

NRS DONATES KIT FOR OUR RIB CREWS
We are very grateful to Nuclear Restoration Services (NRS) for a very generous grant of ÂŁ2000 for new waterproof clothing and boots for our volunteer RIB drivers and crew, whose safety cover and support is essential to all our racing and sail training activities. This kit will keep our volunteers comfortable during what can be long days on the water, in all conditions, throughout the sailing season. Some of our volunteers are pictured wearing the new RIB waterproof clothing, and the second photograph, taken during an RYA youth championships at Easter some years ago, when it snowed(!), shows the conditions our volunteers can face!
NRS is responsible for safely decommissioning 14 nuclear sites across the UK, including Hunterston A and B stations. They support local charities and projects near its sites across the UK, connecting staffing volunteers with regional good causes.
