Adventures with Luna

It’s another scorching day!!!

We were planning on hacking this evening but decided to scrub that and cold hose and turn out later on in the day instead…

I don’t think Luna minded at all… 🤭🤷🏼‍♀️

Pessoa training 💪🏼

I’ve been working deep late shifts this week.. AGAIN 🫠
So, after getting into bed at 05:15 this morning 🤪 riding wasn’t an option…. No energy for that!

However!

It meant we had to get the Pessoa out again to practice some balance in our trot - canter transitions.

Luna worries about her trot - canter transitions so much so that she tends to rush in her trot which then means she’s completely on the forehand into her canter transition, she then falls into her canter already on the forehand which doesn’t leave much hope for working on balance and a rhythmic pace 🤷🏼‍♀️🫣

Today we worked on a nice slow trot then asking for canter once balanced in the trot.
The transition was smooth and upright!
But the more we cantered the more downhill she became and alas more onto the forehand and unbalanced.
We brought it back down to trot, even walk at times ready to set up and ask again….

Luna is a very quick learner 👌🏼
She LOVES her work, she doesn’t get offended when you correct her.

It’s hard for me since loosing Julie, I still cry regularly…
BUT I see more of Julie in Luna everyday… and I am forever grateful to my husband James who has made all this possible 🥰 I am very lucky!

We are all very lucky to have the opportunity to have these wonderful creatures in our lives everyday… everyday is a school day! 🥰

⭐️ OTLEY CHEVIN ⭐️

Another win in the bag! 💪🏼

We headed to Otley Chevin this morning with our good friends Daisy and Jakey! 🥰

Luna loaded into the lorry 🚛 first time at home (😏smug face)

She travelled for the first time with another horse on the lorry with her and was impeccably behaved!

We headed off to the Chevin where we spent our time getting them both tacked up, nice and relaxed, no rushing around.

Once we were in the woods a little excitement from both of them soon calmed down to a steady plod round and round the woods! 👏🏼🪵🌳🌲

Luna was foot perfect the whole way round 🥰
This is only our second ever trip out together and so far she’s proven to be a total babe! 🤭🥰

Back to the lorry, untack and a quick wash off and then time to get back on….

Now, I was apprehensive but like Daisy said
‘’Just do it!’’
And we did!!! 🤭😬💪🏼

Absolutely thrilled to pieces that she just walked on, stopped for a minute to see where Jakey was and then continued straight onto the lorry! No problem what so ever! 🙌🏼👏🏼😬

Woohoo!!!!! 🚛

When we returned home we unloaded them both, Luna stopped at the bottom of the ramp and turned to get back on the lorry!! 😳🤷🏼‍♀️😂
Yes! On her own, no encouragement from me at all! 😂

If I’d had said to you two weeks ago I couldn’t get her near it you’d have thought I was lying!
She loaded herself back on the lorry and stood there waiting for a treat 😂

I think we’ve completed it ✅😉

Now it’s onwards and upwards. Continue our little trips out… get Craven booked into the diary and book a long awaited dressage lesson 🙌🏼🤭

Today has been a great day all round! ♥️

Luna has had her first spin at showjumping at home! 🤭💪🏼

Safe to say this girl enjoys jumping! 🏎️💨😅

Her enthusiasm was just 👌🏼 so adorable!

Now we need to slow it all down, try gain some balance and hopefully this will help with some strength for behind and that canter 💪🏼

Landing on the correct lead isn’t a thing yet either but it will be! 🥰
So proud of her!
