This Tuesday saw us back on the ice working on the basics, with the emphasis, as always, on getting the fundamentals right.

🪑 Keep it in the chair!
⬇️ Keep your body weight down!
➡️ Shoulders facing forward!

These simple fundamentals are so important when developing good skating technique and building confidence on the ice.

Coach Dav continues to get the very best out of our beginner group, using plenty of positive encouragement, great feedback and a few words of wisdom along the way. 👏🏒

🎤🏒 COACH DAV HAS BEEN AT IT AGAIN! 🏒🎤

Coach Dav has been making good use of his mic during training and has been putting some of our players on the spot with a few VERY important ice hockey questions… 🤔🏒

And then there are the questions that are… well… not quite so important! 😂

Coach Dav’s Hockey Questions — coming soon! 👀

Last nights training session with Coach Dav saw us continuing with the basics and in particular the emphasis of the seated position.

In ice hockey, the seated position is essentially the low, stable athletic position a skater uses to maximise control, balance and power. It is sometimes described as “sitting in the chair” position.

* Knees bent deeply
* Hips low
* Chest up
* Head up
* Weight over the middle of the feet
* Feet roughly shoulder-width apart
* Ankles flexed
* Hands in front

The key is that you’re low without being folded over. Think “hips down, chest up, head up.”

This position is fundamental because it gives a player a lower centre of gravity, making it easier to accelerate, stop, change direction, protect the puck and absorb contact.

For a beginner, it’s simply described as:

“Imagine you’re sitting on an invisible chair while skating – knees bent, bum down, chest up and head looking forward.”

🏒 THE KRAKEN ARE BACK! 🏒

After the summer break, the Kraken Ice Hockey Team are back on the ice and ready for the 2026/27 season! 🦑🏒

New season, new challenges, same Kraken spirit. We’re looking forward to getting back to training, battling it out on the ice and making plenty more memories along the way. A big welcome to the newbies who joined us on Tuesday for their first taste of the ice with us.

Bring on 2026/27! 💪🔥

“Are you ready?

Whether you’re completely new to ice hockey or an experienced player who feels you can add something to our club, we want to hear from you.

Our club offers a welcoming environment where players of all abilities can develop their skills, enjoy the game, and be part of a great hockey community.

📍 Location: Fife Ice Arena

As part of last night’s end of season scrimmage we held a “Shut Out King” competition between our four goaltenders and in the end there could only be one winner — John Frazer.

It was a tightly contested competition with pucks flying all over the place at both ends and multiple shots on target throughout. All four goalies were put to the test and produced some great saves along the way.

It was great to see everyone getting involved and having a go, making for a competitive and enjoyable finish to the season on the ice.
