✈️CADET / JUNIOR WEEK 2026- 30th Anniversary ☀️

A dedicated training week for our younger pilots to progress as quick as possible and enjoy themselves!

This week we had amazing weather, with all days flyable, an outstanding number of achievements and progress made along with a totally safe and enjoyable couple of days.🥳

As the Cadet Director thought, The enthusiasm, commitment and achievements of our cadets, juniors, instructors and volunteers have been nothing short of incredible, with Bob, Elodie, Aurelien and Justine flying in from France for the week!🇫🇷🙌

Across the week we celebrated an outstanding range of milestones:

4 new solo pilots
1 SPL Skills Test pass
2 five-hour flights
2 Silver Duration awards
3 Daily Inspection authorisations
3 Perkoz conversions
4 Winch launch conversions
2 Family & Friends endorsements
1 Solo Winch Driver qualification
1 Electric Mule qualification
1 Green Training Card completion
2 Yellow Training Card progressions
2 one-hour flights
1 scholarship recipient commenced flying

These achievements reflect not only individual determination but also the dedication of our instructors, launch crews, ground teams and volunteers who made the week such a success!

From first flights and training progress to significant qualifications and long-duration soaring flights, the week showcased everything that's great about the Scottish Gliding Centre's cadet and junior programme.

The atmosphere was one of encouragement, teamwork and ambition, with everyone supporting each other to reach new milestones.
As Cadet Director, seeing so many young people develop their skills, confidence and passion for gliding in a single week leaves me with just one response -OH WOW! 🥳

Massive thanks to Eric and Mark from the TopBun team for the catering and keeping us fueled too!😋

Congratulations to everyone involved—you've all made this a flying week to remember.🫡

During our cadet and junior week he passed his Sailplane licence (SPL) skills test with examiner Kate.🙌

He went solo for the first time during last year's cadet week, pretty rapid progress. 👏
