🎉 A Day to Remember 🎉

Today, we had the honour of hosting a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu seminar with Darren and Helen Currie, the inspiring heads of Combat Base UK. 🙌🥋 4th Degree Black Belts, Darren and Helen are true pioneers of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in the UK and have had a huge influence on the growth of the sport across the country. We are so grateful they took the time to come and share their knowledge with us.

🎯 The Perfect Balance
Darren and Helen delivered just the right amount of technique, allowing plenty of time for drilling. Their explanations were clear, and their focus on concepts made everything much easier to understand and apply.

👊 Adults & Kids Training Together
It was incredible to see both adults and children sharing the mats, learning side by side. Helen did an amazing job engaging with the children and breaking down the techniques in a way they could grasp, while Darren worked with the adults, sharing his years of expertise, and of course his jokes!

🎉 Belt Promotions
The seminar ended on a high with some well-deserved promotions:
🔵 Eddie – A very dedicated grappler who's been consistently improving with every session, promoted to Blue Belt.
🔵 Ted – Only 16 years old, but consistent and disciplined, showing great skills on the mats, promoted to Blue Belt.
🔵 Ruta – Always training with determination, her progress is a reflection of her effort, promoted to Blue Belt.
🔵 Jay – Years of consistent effort with an unwavering commitment to his learning, promoted to Blue Belt.
🟣 Ryan – A key member of the team, showing advanced skills and long-term commitment, earning his Purple Belt!
🟣 Coach Vickie – Our incredible children's coach, highly skilled with a wealth of knowledge and experience, promoted to Purple Belt!
🟤 Coach Andy – Our adult head coach, who continues to make improvements to his jiu-jitsu skills, promoted to Brown Belt, a huge milestone!

👏 Massive congratulations to everyone who earned their promotions—it’s a testament to your hard work and commitment to the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. 💪

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported today’s event. Your energy made it such a success. To the parents who brought their children along, your support means the world to us. And to everyone who came to train, drill, and celebrate, we are so grateful for you being part of our community.

🎉 Blue Belt Promotions! 🎉

Huge congratulations to Jamie, Billy, and Mateusz on earning their Blue Belts this week, in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with the blessing of Darren and Helen Currie, heads of Combat Base UK! 🥋💙

These guys have demonstrated incredible dedication, consistency, and hard work. Their promotions are truly well-deserved.

🔹 Jamie – One of the original members of our fight team. After some years away, Jamie returned with unstoppable determination. Training through injuries when others would rest, his progress this past year has been nothing short of inspiring. 💪

🔹 Billy – A shining example of humility, commitment, and consistency. Billy has worked tirelessly on his wrestling, and it’s now shining through in his grappling style. Fantastic effort, Billy! 👊

🔹 Mateusz – A model of consistency and grit. Mateusz has poured effort into his BJJ and wrestling, making huge strides in his skillset this year. Amazing work, Mateusz! 🙌

These three are becoming well-rounded grapplers, and their promotions reflect their relentless work ethic and passion for the art.

Well done, guys! Let’s keep pushing forward—this is just the beginning! 💥

🥋 What a Day for Combat Base Hull! 🏆

Our Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu team competed at the Allstars BJJ Northern Pro in Manchester on Sunday, 24th November, and they absolutely smashed it! 💥

🔥 The Children’s Team kicked things off with an incredible start, winning all 6 of their first matches! Every single one of them gave it their all, showing fantastic skill and determination.

Special shoutout to Olivia, who competed against the boys (as there were no girls in her division) and came away with BRONZE—a huge achievement for her first competition!🥉👏

🔥 The Adult Team followed suit, putting on fantastic performances against tough competition from all over the country. Every match was hard-fought, and our team showed incredible grit, skill, and heart on the mats! 💪

Yesterday, we were bursting with pride as we celebrated Lee's remarkable achievement of earning his Blue Belt in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu! This comes with the blessing of Darren and Helen Currie of Combat Base UK. Starting his BJJ journey at 47, Lee has shown us all that age is just a number when it comes to pursuing your passions. With dedication, a fantastic attitude, and the guidance of the coaching staff at MD Martial Arts, Lee reached this significant milestone with flying colors - all before his 50th birthday! Lee's journey is a powerful reminder that it's never too late to start something new and achieve greatness. Congratulations, Lee! Your hard work and perseverance are an inspiration to us all. 💙✨
