We begin our weekend review with U15 County Cup action.
The Under 15 Blues booked their spot in the next round with a thrilling 3-2 penalty victory against Mayflower Rangers in Plymouth. What makes the result even sweeter is they only had 10 players available. An incredible effort.
Here’s coach Adam’s comments “What a game and what a performance from the boys!
With only 10 players available, we knew we would be up against it with an unbeaten Mayflower side.
We found ourselves 2-0 down, which in my opinion was against the run of play. We pulled one back through Jacob before Sam E produced a 30-yard thunderbolt to make it 2-2 at half-time.”
“Mayflower put us under plenty of pressure in the second half, but we kept things tight and narrow and limited them to just a handful of chances. With five minutes left, their excellent skipper produced a brilliant header to make it 3-2.”
“The boys could have dropped their heads, but instead they pushed forward and with virtually the last phase of the game, Harry MC was brought down in the box and stepped up to dispatch the resulting penalty. 3-3 and straight to penalties.”
“Sam B, Jacob and Sam E all converted, while Matteo produced two fantastic saves to send us through to the next round! It was a huge team effort. Dylan, Jayen, Harvey and Harry MC defended brilliantly, Matteo was excellent behind them, while Austin, Colby, Jacob, Sam B and Sam E worked tirelessly in midfield/upfront.”
“Given the players we had missing and the quality of the opposition, I’m incredibly proud of the boys. Character, resilience and belief right until the very end.”
