Shortlees Youth F.C

Well done to this group of kids today (and James, not pictured) up at 6:30am out the house for 7:30am and not back until around 4pm a very long and tiring day but some fantastic football on display by them as we attended the Passion4Fusion festival in Edinburgh.
Some great team play, some worldie goals (1 absolute screamer from Ben, who would never usually shoot never mind score 😲) and kelvin had a fantastic day in goals making some outstanding saves.

For the games was great to play some new teams, some very evenly matched games against some great oppositions.

Again a massive well done to the kids today who spent 8+ hours out of the house and never really took their foot off the gas until the last game where you could tell they were all burst 😂.

Don't worry I'm currently on the lookout for a social media officer who can take on this task and hopefully get our page upto the standards these kids deserve. But big shout out to our players of the match over our last 4 games.

We had James, hannah, callum and noah who all stood out and performed amazing in each of their matches well done and I do apologise as you deserved the recognition alot sooner than it's came. Keep up the hard work the lot of yous. 🔥🔥🔥🔥

Thanks to Alan Agnew for coming along today and snapping some photos of the kids in their last league game before the summer shut down, the photos are tremendous and you have managed to capture some things in them that we don't see very often..... The kids smiling 😂 only kidding, but they really are great and your extremely talented in your field.

Also a shout out to callum who unfortunately has broken his wrist in 2 places after trying to replicate Scott mctominay and his famous overhead kick.
This will see callum out for at least 5 weeks. We all wish you a speedy recovery and hope to see you on the sidelines now and again cheering on the rest of your team.

Thanks to Tass Thistle 2016s for having us down today probably up there with one of the best games we've had since starting 7s.
Very good to watch and a lot of positives taken from both sides. Some 🤦🏻‍♂️ moments but overall fantastic football from all of the kid's.
2 teams both evenly matched and just going for it 👏👏

Kian Watson thank you for the support you have gave us over the past few years from getting the initial text from your mum asking if you could help out to where you are now.

Previously shy, nervous and distant to becoming a coach whos built a great rapport with the kids. Watching you develop aswell as developing the kids has been a pleasure.

Who's idea was it to give out player of the week awards. Oh aye mine 🤦🏻‍♂️

Another difficult week for us to pick. This week the full team could have received it. They played for each other, attitudes, effort and football was fantastic throughout the morning.

This week though it goes to lucas who has played well for the last few weeks and has been up there and just missed out previously.

He controlled the first half of the game in the middle of the park before swapping at half time and then bagging himself a few goals.

Some great individual performances today along with some well worked team play.

Difficult one to pick this week again 3 or 4 kids could have picked it up.
This week's potm was our wee energizer bunny koby. He picked up some fancy footwork from somewhere (maybe his dad) making some fantastic runs down the right wing and putting some great balls into the danger area which we struggled to convert.
He had slowed down for parts of the game but then when the sun came out it must have hit his solar panel because he was like a whippet getting from right wing to left back in the blink of an eye and put in a great challenge when our defenders had been caught out on a counter attack.

Some overall decent team play when we played our kinda football. If only we can get out of this boot the ball up the park and hope for the best mentality when we go behind. 🤣
