School anxiety does not always begin with a child refusing to go to school.
Often, the earlier signs are much quieter: tummy aches, difficult mornings, repeated reassurance seeking, poor sleep, irritability or anxiety about particular parts of the school day.
Some children continue attending every day while using an enormous amount of energy simply to cope. It may only be once they get home that adults see just how much the school day has taken out of them.
That is why it is important to notice the pattern before difficulties escalate into non-attendance.
The aim is not to remove every challenge from school, but to understand what is driving the anxiety and help the child develop the support and strategies they need to manage it.

After last week’s little Arrows adventure at Lucky Chuck’s 🎱🍕🕹️, it’s back to business tonight with a normal Monday night session at Kettering Arrows HQ! 💙

We’ll be putting a poll in the Parents WhatsApp group shortly, so please give us a quick YES or NO to let us know if your child is attending. It really helps us plan the evening, especially during the summer holidays. 👍
Darts at the ready… see you on the oche! 🎯
Sadly, we can’t promise a pizza buffet every Monday. 😂🍕

I’m incredibly excited to share that I’m developing the ‘Home Buddy Youth Programme’, a practical, hands on Alternative Provision for young people aged 11-16.
Not every young person thrives in a traditional classroom, and that’s okay.
The programme is being designed to support young people who may be struggling with confidence, school attendance, social situations, engagement with mainstream education and also those with SEND.
Through gardening, outdoor learning, community projects, volunteering and real life experiences, the aim is to help young people discover what they CAN do, build confidence and create brighter futures🪴
This is just the beginning of making a difference 💛
Please share 🙏🏻

Netflix has announced Beat Luke Littler, a brand new live darts competition where amateur players will have the chance to win £501,000 by beating world champion Luke Littler in a single leg of 501.
In a statement announcing the show, Netflix said: “The rules are simple: one night, one chance, and one perfect leg of 501.
“If an amateur can defeat darts prodigy Luke Littler, they will walk away with a life-changing £501,000.
“Produced in partnership with the PDC, the governing body behind professional darts, the show will be rooted in the authentic world of competitive darts, bringing the sport’s electric atmosphere live to Netflix.
“To kick off the launch, Netflix has officially opened a nationwide recruitment search to find the 20 competitors brave enough to step up.”
Applications are open to anyone aged 12 or over. Players must register online, with qualifying events taking place in London and Manchester this September before the final 20 contestants are selected.
The live event will be streamed on Netflix on Friday 30 October 2026.
