CLIENT SPOTLIGHT 💪🏼
My client Paula has had an incredible journey from when she first started with me in 2021 to where she is today.
Paula signed up with me knowing she needed to make a dramatic change to her life. The lifestyle she was living was threatening both her health and, ultimately, her life.
To give you an idea of where she started, Paula would become completely breathless after walking for just a few minutes.
She had very little experience with regular exercise and absolutely no experience in a gym.
Our first few sessions were held in a private room because she felt embarrassed and had zero confidence.
Fast forward just over a year and Paula had lost around 8 stone while attending regular PT sessions every week.
This was achieved through three main areas:
1️⃣ Exercising and lifting weights 1–2 times per week
2️⃣ Hitting a realistic step target each week
3️⃣ Tracking calories and consistently working towards the targets we set
Fast forward another four years, and Paula has continued to make incredible progress.
She has now lost a grand total of 12 stone.
But the weight loss is only part of the transformation.
Paula now attends the gym on her own, alongside our weekly PT session.
She has now decided to drop our one face-to-face PT session each week and move across to online coaching.
From starting in a private room with zero confidence, to now confidently training in the gym by herself and taking the step into online coaching…
That is absolutely huge.
Transformations come in all different forms, but for me, this isn’t a 12-week transformation where you get some nice pictures at the end of it.
This is a complete life transformation.
It has changed Paula’s everyday life.
It hasn’t been about strict, unrealistic training or doing everything perfectly.
It’s been about Paula buying into the fundamentals, setting realistic goals and hitting them more often than not, week after week.
That consistency has completely changed her life.
As much as I’m going to miss our face-to-face sessions, it was music to my ears when Paula told me she felt confident enough to take that next step into online coaching.
I’m incredibly proud of you, Paula.
The next part of your journey is ready to begin. 💪🏼
And I can’t wait to see where it takes you.

8 Years of MBPT! 🎉
Today marks 8 years since I took the leap into self-employment and started MBPT.
Eight years ago, I was working as a leisure club manager, regularly putting in 60+ hour weeks with very little support, no real opportunities for development, and no clear path for progression within the business.
You’d probably think that made the decision to go self-employed an easy one. In reality, it wasn’t.
It took me over a year to build up the confidence to make the leap. Leaving the security of a full-time job was one of the biggest and most nerve-wracking decisions I’ve ever made.
Looking back now, it was without doubt one of the best decisions I’ve made for both myself and my family.
Not long after starting MBPT, my wife and I started a family. Being self-employed gave me the flexibility to be there for 2 young kids while still building a business that could support us through an ever-changing economic climate. That balance has meant everything.
The stereotypical personal trainer is often loud, ultra-confident and always selling themselves. That’s never really been me.
I’ve always been more reserved. I’m confident in the coaching I provide and the care I give to every one-to-one client, group member and event participant, but I’ve never been one to shout about it.
Maybe that approach has cost me some opportunities over the years. But I’d like to think it’s also helped me attract people who value honesty, a natural realistic approach and hardworking individual.
This time last year, I was only a few months into moving all of my clients into my new home at Evolution. The move has been a huge success, and I can’t thank the team at Evolution enough for providing such a fantastic facility and creating such a welcoming environment for both me and my clients.
Another highlight from the last year was our charity fundraising.
Together, we raised over £18,000 for Movember, taking our 7-year fundraising total to more than £63,000. That’s something I’m incredibly proud of, and it’s only possible because of the amazing support from everyone who gets involved.
Last year I took on one of my biggest personal challenges to raise money for the charity. This year, I’m planning to go even bigger… details coming soon! 👀
Finally, thank you to every client—past and present—for trusting me with your health and fitness. Whether you’ve trained with me one-to-one, attended group classes, taken part in events or simply supported the business along the way, you’ve all played a part in these eight incredible years.
Here’s to the next chapter. Thank you for being part of the journey. ❤️

Play as long as you can, as you are a long time retired.
Been told this for a long time now and sticking to it.
The body is not what it used to be and the wear and tear is now catching up but when injury free the engine is strong and the experience is high😄
🟡⚫️ BUTLER’S BACK 🟡⚫️
We are delighted to confirm that Mark Butler has re-signed for the 2026-27 season.
The 38-year-old midfielder had a great middle to end of the season, cementing a place in the starting XI before an injury cut his season short.
Mark picked up the Goal of the Season award for his strike against Saltcoats Victoria.
Great to you have back!
Mark is available to sponsor for £50 for the season.

𝐅𝐈𝐕𝐄 𝐅𝐄𝐑𝐑𝐘 𝐂𝐘𝐂𝐋𝐄 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔🚴
We are back again for our annual cycle adventure across the Cowal peninsula.😄
5 ferries and 4 cycle sections in one day.💪🏼
I have been doing this cycle annually for over 10 years now and although I’m not a regular cyclist I always look forward to this day.😁
The day itself is challenging with many steep inclines and requires a level of fitness and endurance.
I would recommend a road bike for the day although a hybrid would also be appropriate.
It’s a tough day but very rewarding as you take in the stunning scenery of the route.
For more details or if you would like to join us on the day please send a DM to the page.

Running Group🏃😁
We are now 4 weeks into our new running group and still adding some new faces each week.
We have now established a few routes that we can work on and build up the running.
The group is in its infancy and we are encouraging as many of you to come along and join in.
Relaxed atmosphere where everyone is encouraging and pushing each other along.
Class is free and open to all so come along next Tuesday and give it a go👍😁
